Overall, we had a fantastic trip to 4 different islands in Indonesia. We visited Flores, Bali, Java, and Sumatra. Our activities were diverse and our drivers, especially Bagus in Bali, Faisal in Java (Bromo), and Anwar in Sumatra were amazing and knowledgeable and courteous. Our trip had relatively few problems but the one real problem we had, when they wouldn’t let us on a ferry, Ana jumped in immediately and fixed the problem. She was very attentive and checked in with us frequently on the trip. I will say that 3 of our hotels changed after our trip was already booked, making me think our hotels weren’t actually booked. The main one we were disappointed in was the Heritage Hotel in Sumatra. We were booked to the Ecolodge which was a lot nicer but when we arrived we were told the Ecolodge was full and we had to stay at the Heritage. My point with this story is that I would advise asking for confirmation numbers for your hotels to avoid confusion while you are there. We fell in love with Indonesia and would definitely go back!!

Wae Rebo Lodge

This was our first night in Indonesia. It was very basic but absolutely fine. Bring earplugs though-the night sounds of frogs, geckos, cats, and birds are very loud all night long!

Family Friendliness

Waerebo

A fantastic experience but so crowded with tourists. There were at least 40 other tourists with only 3 basic toilets to share. You sleep on mattresses on the floor with no mosquito nets side by side with 25 other people. The meals are very basic-one egg and rice and some watery greens. I advise taking some snacks along. It was a great experience, but just be aware that it’s an experience, not a relaxing vacation!

Private cruise trip in Komodo National Park
Labuan Bajo, Indonesia

The highlights of the Komodo trip for me were seeing the fruit bats fly out of the mangroves at night, seeing the Komodo dragons and other wildlife on the island, and snorkeling. Our boat, the Mutiara Flores, was average. There were comfortable accommodations and a place to sit at a table out of the sun. The cook made so much food that we felt guilty we had so much left over. Overall a good experience, despite me getting sick with diarrhea on the trip.

The Artini 2 was well located and comfortable. The breakfast was not great but it was a very interesting hotel. The rooms, however, are SO dark. Where there should we windows, there are intricate wooden carvings!

Lava View Lodge Hotel

The views from the Lava Lodge are great, but the rooms are dank and the bathroom was very stinky with a sewage smell permeating the room. The cleanliness of the restaurant is atrocious as well with stains all over the tablecloth and the dinner gave my daughter food poisoning so that she was vomiting all night and had to miss the Bromo hike the next morning. The staff was friendly and the beds were comfortable though and we survived the night. If you go, just be prepared with a good jacket (the nights are very cold) and keep the bathroom door closed!

They say the hike takes about 4 hours but anyone with any athleticism at all can get there in 1 1/2-2 hrs even with stopping for photos. It’s a beautiful hike and quite muddy so wear some sturdy shoes. I also recommend not starting out too early. We got there by 11am and really had nothing to do all day except wander around and talk to the other tourists. Some of the young people played soccer with the local kids, which looked fun. So start your journey later in the day-and bring snacks because every meal is the same-one egg, rice, shrimp crackers, and a watery vegetable. It’s fine for a day, but we were rather hungry for nearly 24 hours and wished we had some snacks.

The team introduced us to experiences that we would never have thought of on our own and we will always cherish those memories. Whenever we experienced an issue or a question with our trip plan, we contacted the team and they responded immediately to resolve our issues. This was one of our priorities based on several friends’ experiences with other tour companies.

Lessons learned: (1) Make sure that you understand what amenities are offered at hotels. A couple of our accommodations did not provide lifts and it was difficult to get our luggage to and from our rooms. (2) Because the weather was unseasonably warm in London, it would have been nice to be aware whether the hotel had air conditioning.

We would definitely use KimKim again and recommend them to our friends and family.

Sharon helped us plan a fantastic vacation in Morocco. We worked for several months (okay, more like a year!) tweaking and fine-tuning the itinerary. Sharon was very receptive to our wants (and not-wants). The trip itself... simply stunning! Morocco has so much to offer... the incredible scenery, the culture, the vibrant cities (with their hectic and oh-so-lively medinas), the wonderful people, and the food... oh my, the food (just to name a few). The lodgings that Sharon chose for us were fabulous -- much more opulent that we're used to. We were treated like royalty. My wife often quipped... "What is it, do we have 'Queen' and 'King' stamped on our foreheads?"

Hicham Idrissi (our tour manager/guide/driver) served us so well. He was with us for most of the seventeen days. He gave us time to explore on our own, but our walks with him around the towns we visited (notably, Chefchaouen, Fes, Rissani, his neighborhood in the Valley of the Roses, Marrakech, and Essouira) were highlights of this trip. His knowledge of the country, the cities, and the sites made this vacation so much more rewarding and meaningful. The only downside was that he had just come off two back-to-back tours (this was his third) and he seemed (understandably) exhausted from time to time. Another driver picked us up in Casablanca at the beginning of our trip. The next day, on the way to Chefchaouen, we did a "chinese fire drill" where or initial driver, Said, dropped us off and Hicham picked us up (Said took his clients to the airport as they were finishing their tour and Hicham turned around and we headed to Chefchaouen) -- no rest for the weary! Near the end of the trip (in Essaouira) Hicham kind of "ghosted" us and returned to the Valley of the Roses to tend to some personal business (telling us only after he was back home). We did not miss a beat though. We were (by design) on our own in Essaouira and by the time we needed to return to Marrakech, Sharon and Hicham had arranged for a fill-in driver to finish the trip for us. Hicham's communication could have been better and we really regret not having a chance for proper face-to-face goodbyes and thank yous.

Some of the highlights (but there was SO much more):

* The dinner and after-dinner festivities at Riad Dar Chrifa in Rabat
* Chefchaouen and the walk to Cascade d'Akchour
* The medina walks in Fes and Marrakech (Essaouira, too)
* The Rissani Market
* The camel ride and spending a night in a desert tent camp in Erg Chebbi
* The day with Sharon, Hicham and friends (including a delightful home-cooked meal and a walk around the old neighborhood) in the Valley of the Roses
* The cooking class in Essaouira (Khadija's Kuzina) -- Hussein and Khadija (and their son, Amir) were simply delightful. It was just us and them in their flat. A truly special and unforgettable experience.
* The wonderful lodgings and meals throughout the trip.

Hotel Reviews
Riad Dar Chrifa
Rabat

Great location. We were able to choose which of the five rooms we wanted. The dinner and after-dinner entertainment was wonderful -- a great first-night introduction to Morocco! The staff was so friendly and helpful.

Authenticity & Character
Location
Right in the old medina and only a short walk to the Kasbah of the Udayas. The medina (at least where we were) was not as vibrant as those in Fes or Marrakech -- it seemed more "off the beaten path" of tourists which had its own appeal.
Staff
Great staff. Very personable. We really had fun with them at dinner and with the music and dancing afterwards.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Ksar Timnay Hotel
Midelt

Very satisfactory accomodations. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. The provided meals (dinner and breakfast) were excellent. It's located well north of Midelt and there's not a lot to do, but we did buy a couple beers at the front desk and took a short walk to a nearby lake which was very pleasant.

Authenticity & Character
Very distinctive design. The room was large and nicely appointed although rather "plain" compared to other lodgings we had during this vacation.
Location
Well, not that they can do much about it, but there's not too much to see nearby (e.g., within walking distance) except for a small lake. But that's okay. We stayed for just one night.
Staff
No complaints at all... just nothing comes to mind that stands out as superlative. They did offer wine and beer which is not always easy to come by in Morocco.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The room was clean and comfortable but the furnishings are a bit dated and.. well... plain.
Chez Ichou
Dades Gorge

We would rate this hotel near the top -- relative to what we need in a hotel. It's definitely not "over the top" but it is so pleasant and comfortable. We had our own balcony overlooking the pool (and exterior dining) area as well as the gardens and farms and rocky cliffs of the Dades Gorge. The dining experience was exquisite -- some of the most elegant meals that the had on our whole vacation in Morocco.

Authenticity & Character
Chez Ichou seemed to fit right in with the Dades Gorge look and feel. It is rather unpretentious from the outside but so nice and "friendly" inside.
Location
RIght on the road to from Boumalne Dades to Tisderine Bends.
Staff
Always very friendly. We were here only two nights but the staff treated us like we were family from the outset.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Very quiet, even though it is right on the road up the gorge. Our room was on the other side of the building (facing the valley). We have fond memories of relaxing on the balcony and enjoying the view and a glass of wine.
Riad al Rimal
Marrakech

This riad is "buried" (in a GOOD way) in the Marrakech medina. To get to it, we had follow a maze of narrow pathways, corners, and junctions. Delightful. Once through the front door, you're in a modern, elegant riad. The room was modernly appointed and very comfortable.

Authenticity & Character
Very modern interior appearance which could be perceived as out-of-place in old Marrakech, but this did not detract from its appeal. The only exposure you have to the exterior is the front door (buried in the narrow pathways of the medina) and the rooftop lounge where we enjoued our breakfasts. The pool at the bottom of the interior atrium provided a very elegant common area. I don't think any of the rooms had windows to the outside (only to the interior atrium), but we didn't miss them.
Location
In the old medina and a short walk (5 minutes) from the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Perfect.
Staff
Friendly and helpful, but maybe not quite as personable as with some of the other lodgings where we stayed during our vacation in Morocco.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Very clean and neat. The rooms (we stayed in two different ones) were not huge but definitely sufficient. One minus... the cleaning crew uses a very aromatic cleaning solution (rose-scented I believe), which we found a bit overpowering. We mentioned this to the staff and they apologized and assured us that the crew would use a non-aromatic solution thereafter. It was much better the next day.
Villa Quieta Essaouira
Essaouira

This is like having a bedroom in a palace! The common areas are stunningly elegant -- both the main areas on the ground floor as well as the smaller common areas outside the private rooms. Our own room was very neat, clean, and good-looking -- perhaps not on par, elegance-wise, with the common areas, but so suitable for our needs.

Authenticity & Character
As mentioned in the review, staying here is like being invited to the residence of royalty. We were given a bedroom (nicely appointed) upstairs and off several very comfortable and elegant sitting areas. If your travelling party requires several rooms, this would be a perfect option -- several rooms around a common "living room".
Location
Villa Quieta is on a quiet (hence the name, maybe) side street right off the waterfront promenade. But it is a little ways from the old medina and ramparts of Essaouira. We did walk back from the medina on one occasion, but it is not what I would call "convenient" in this regard. That being said, it is an easy (and inexpensive and easily accessible) taxi ride to or from the medina.
Staff
Always very friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff (for breakfast) were high-end restaurantt calibre -- very professional and attentive.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The Villa's gardens and pool area (we used them!) were so welcoming and secluded. There seemed to be a large everpresent cleaning crew taking care of things (they had a lot of areas to cover -- not only the rooms but the oh-so-spacious common areas) but they were quiet and hardly noticed.
Riad Hicham
Chefchaouen

NOTE: We did NOT stay at the Riad Hicham in Chefchaouen. It was overbooked and Sharon, our local travel agent in Morocco booked us in the Lina Riad and Spa instead. She indicated that this was an upgrade from the Riad Hicham. This review is for the Lina Riad and Spa, NOT Riad Hicham. Lina Riad was wonderful! It was a bit of a walk up the hill from the main square and our room was up several flights of stairs -- almost the top floor. The benefit was that we had our own personal (and HUGE) balcony/patio overlooking the city and the valley beyond. Glorious. The breakfasts were superb -- we started getting the idea of how generous Moroccan breakfasts are -- so many types of breads (served without asking), unique (as well as "standard") preparations of eggs and meats, juices and hot tea or coffee. The Riad includes a spa (which we did not indulge ourselves with) but they also have a small indoor pool which you can book for an hour of private time. We did do this at the end of our full day in Chefchaouen. It was so relaxing! Not to be missed.

Authenticity & Character
Riad Lina is a traditional "riad" architecture with rooms and sitting areas on several floors surrounding a central atrium. However it is very modernly furnished and appointed and very clean.
Location
Gorgeous view from our room, but a ways up the hill from the main square (a small price to pay!). The walk is through the narrow shop-lineds streets of the medina, so it was never a burden! (Maybe it was for the porter carrying our luggage!)
Staff
The staff was very friendly and always very helpful.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The cleaning staff was really meticulous. We saw them dusting the plants in the hallways and they came out and cleaned our private patio each day (including the big skylight) that looks down into the atrium... not to mention the room itself.
Palais Faraj Suites & Spa
Fès

Very, well, palatial! Way above our "pay grade" but a special experience (probably for that reason). Our suite (and it was a suite with multiple rooms, two bathrooms, several sitting areas, and a walk-in closet) was spectacular. It opened out directly adjacent to the pool area.

Authenticity & Character
Very exotic and elegant. We tend to gravitate to more modest (but clean and comfortable) lodgings, so this was a special treat.
Location
It is located on the edge (in the wall) of the medina. We did not walk down into the touristy part of the medina from the hotel, but probably could have.
Staff
Very helpful. I had come down with a bronchial irritation (mostly coughing and a hoarse voice). They were very helpful in suggesting remedies and a nearby pharmacy.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The suite we stayed in is probably the most opulent we've ever experienced.
Riad Madu
Merzouga

Wonderful lodging in the desert (almost, if not literally). Our room was large, elegant (in a Moroccan, desert-y way), and very comfortable. The common areas are very spacious and nicely decorated. We spent some time around (and in) the pool which was very welcome after a hot day of travelling. The provided dinners and breakfasts were delightful. Highly recommended!

Authenticity & Character
This hotel seemed to fit in perfectly with the desert surroundings. In our room, the domed ceilings (one above the shower and another above the toilet) with star and moon cut-outs were unique and distinctive -- really added character to the room.
Location
Right on the edge of Erg Chebbi. You can walk to the dunes (which we did). You'll see camel caravans (sometimes only one or two) coming and going.

Merzouga Dunes Royal Camp
Merzouga

Our camel trek took us to the Madu Premium Camp (https://www.riadmadu.com/en/camp/premium-camp), NOT the Merzouga Dunes Royal Camp. This review is for the Madu Premium Camp. This desert camp was delightful. Upon arrival on our camels, we were checked in at an open-air reception area and taken to our tent. Our room had all the amenities of a luxurious hotel room. It was quite remarkable. If it weren't for the canvas walls, you'd never know you were in a tent! The dining "room" was outside (but covered); the floor were rugs on the sand (it worked so well). It was so pleasant enjoying dinner as the moon rose behind us. And the food -- terrific. The camp had a nice firepit with chairs and cushions for some after-dinner entertainment. We were exhausted and decided to forego this fun, but we did hear it from our tent! (Regardless, we had no trouble whatsoever falling asleep!) In hindsight, we should have joined in the festivities -- even though we were so tired, it's unfortunate that we missed sitting by the fire and more closely experiencing the music. We woke up early enough to experience the moon setting behind the dunes and then the sun rising a bit later in the east. The breakfast was so generous and so scrumptious (five different breads plus condiments, hard-boiled eggs, and a tagine egg dish and, of course, teas, juices, and coffees). It seemed like we spent so little time here -- arriving after sunset and leaving not too long after breakfast. A fleeting "moment" in our journey, but a very memorable one.

Authenticity & Character
The furnishings were luxurious. The whole camp environment was perfect. It seemed almost like a scene out of Lawrence of Arabia.
Location
Definitely in the dunes of the desert! I expected these desert camps to be more out "in the middle" of Erg Chebbi but now understand the rational for locating them relatively close to the edge and not that far from "civilization."
Staff
The staff was very friendly. We had some really nice conversations with the gentleman who was our waiter at dinner and at breakfast. Very personable.
Cleanliness & Comfort
You'd think with sand all around, it might all be a bit "gritty." Not the case. (Of course, we weren't there during a sand storm!) The tents had heating and air conditioning which was a nice plus, although I don't remember us needing them much. But I bet it comes in handy later in the summer!

The tour of the Fes medina was fabulous. Our guide (tour manager and driver, too) guided us through the maze of alleyways and narrow pathways of the medina, visiting shops, the University of Al Quaraouiyine, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II, the incredible (but very stinky!) Chouara Tannery, a pottery school, the Born Sud (fortress), the Jewish District, and the Royal Palace. It was definitely a "sensory overload" day. This is maybe stereotypical Morocco but it was sure a treat to see, hear, feel, taste (and smell!) it firsthand!

Quality of Experience
Our guide's expertise and insight really enriched the experience. We also had "local" experts explain their crafts at the fabric store, Chouara Tannery, and pottery school who all expertly "filled in the details."

Tour of Desert Region
Tour of Desert Region
Merzouga

Today was a diverse, event-filled day with a tour guided by Hicham, our driver/tour manager. We started with a visit to the "black desert" where he left us off the explore the rocky desert terrain where fossils were everywhere (granted, most of them were fairly low grade). We found some, good enough to take home as souvenirs. We then stopped at a fossil museum and shop where we were given a very nice guided walk-through of the museum. The staff evaluated our "finds" from the desert - no real gems, but definitely verified as actual fossils. We bought one nice nautilus fossil from their shop. It was a really nice experience. Next, Hicham took us to the Rissani Market. This was a very different experience than the exploration of the Fes medina (or the Marrakech medina later in our trip). It's just as hectic and diverse but seemed so rural and local. I'm not sure if we saw any other tourists the whole time we were there. It is definitely a working market more than it is a tourist attraction. This authenticity made it a special and unique experience. Hicham then took us to the Chez Ibrahim Restaurant for lunch where, after several preliminary courses (all delicious), we were served the regional specialty, Medfuna (also known as Berber Pizza). Highly recommended. We then visited Dar Gnaoua where we were treated to music and song by Gnaouan musicians. The beat and rhythm were mesmerizing. Lots of fun. Finally, Hicham took us to a shop in Merzouga to but some scarves which will serve as our tuareg turbans (headdresses) for our upcoming camel ride into the desert for our night at the Madu Premium Camp. This was a fun day and well-orchestrated by our tour manager. It was a full day and we would not pass up any of the activities if we were to to do it again.

Quality of Experience
The variety of activities and the apparent (and truly, I suspect) authentic nature of all the things we saw.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Hicham did an excellent job again today of showing and explaining the sites.
Transport
Hicham was at the helm (as usual) and we were the only other two people in the van (as usual). Touring Morocco in this way is indeed something special.

Arrive in Casablanca & Transfer to Rabat
Morocco

We were picked up at the airport by what turned out to be our temporary tour manager/guide, Said (until a switch on the way to Chefchaouen). Before heading to Rabat for the night we were given a quick tour of Casablanca -- just a quick photo op at Rick's Cafe and a tour of the Hassan II Mosque. The tour (included in the Kimkim package) was good. The mosque is relatively new (finished in the early 1990s), incredibly large (but just the 14th largest in the world) and very impressive architecture.

Quality of Experience
The architecture of the Hassan II Mosque was impressive. The building is so huge and so intricate. It is amazing that a structure this large and this ornate could be be built in just over seven years.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our driver (from the airport to Casablanca and then Rabat), was fine. Rather quiet (hard to hear) and didn't offer much along the way (stories or history or guidance), but was fine. He also picked us up the next day and took us part way to Chefchaoen where they swapped drivers and we continued with Hicham in his van. He stayed with us all the way to Essauoira, near the end of our Morocco vacation.
Transport
Said's vehicle was "just" a sedan. Adequate, but we found Hicham's van more comfortable, larger windows, higher up, and better visibility.

A pleasant driving day with stops at Volubilis and Meknes. At the Volubilis Roman ruins we had a local guide show us the site. He was knowlegeable and willingly answered our questions. It was fascinating to see so many mosaic floors and how well-preserved they were considering their exposure to the elements. We only made a quick stop in Meknes because so many of the interesting sites were in renovation and not open to the public. We were disappointed that we couldn't see some of these sites in more detail, but it was out of our (and our tour manager's) control. Upon arrival in Fes, we checked into our room at the Palais Faraj. Simply stunning! (The most exotic room we've ever stayed in, on this trip or any other. The views from the room were not spectacular, but the room itself... stunning.)

Midelt to Merzouga
Midelt to Merzouga
Morocco

This was a driving day from the Ksar Timnay hotel, through Midelt, and on to our lodging, the Riad Madu, near Merzouga. We loved the drives (today and other days) through the Moroccan countryside -- glimpses of the rural life and culture and the gorgeous scenery. It wasn't "immersive" as we saw it from the back seat of our van, but it was close. We did make several stops along the way for photos. Hicham was good to point out things along the way and to answer our questions.

Quality of Experience
We loved the the dramatic Ziz River Gorge as well as other rural landscapes and villages adjacent to the massive Ziz Oasis.

Camel trek to your Camp

Although seemingly a very "touristy" activity, we are, after all... tourists! This was a really fun few hours as we rode the camels (guided by two very friendly and happy-go-lucky guides who were on foot), There were just four of us (plus our camels and our two guides); my wife and I and two nice ladies (mother and daughter) from France. We trekked to the Madu Premium Camp (tent camp in the desert) and got there a little after sunset. Along the way we got lots of nice photos and stopped to enjoy the sun as it set behind the dunes. The colors were just stunning! The guides were willing (even taking the initiative) to take pictures of us, individually and as a group.

Quality of Experience
An experience to definitely do once -- nothing quite like it. And this is the place to do it!
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our camel guides were friendly (quite limited, English-wise, though) and very willing to take photos for us.
Transport
Riding on the back of a camel through the sand dunes of Morocco... need I say more? (It was a quite a slow trek and we opted to return back to town the next morning by 4x4 rather than camel -- either was an option.)

As with other driving days (here, on our way to Marrakech), we made a few stops along the way. We stopped briefly in Ouarzazate and took a look at the Taourirt Kasbah (from the area across the street; no tour). Because of the sordid history (those who ruled from the kasbah), Hicham did not think it was worth our while to take a tour (even though it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site). On the way out of town, we took a brief look (photo op) at one of the several movie studios in the region. Again, we did not take a tour -- just looked at it from the outside. Our next stop was Aït Benhaddou, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we did stop, and Hicham took us on a nice walk through the ancient (but still inhabited) hillside village, known for its earthen architecture (and also its use in various movies). We walked all the way to the top, to the ancient "bank" building (which, unfortunately was badly damaged in the September 2023 earthquake). The view down across the village and the valley beyond was breathtaking. After walking back to the more modern town on the other side of the river, we enjoyed a very nice lunch at Chez Brahim (Hicham was careful to take us to this particular restaurant to avoid the more touristy and crowded ones -- much appreciated!). The highlight of the remainder of the drive was traversing the Atlas Mountains along the Tizi n'Tichka Path. The winding, twisty highway was originally built by the French during their occupation of Morocco but a lot of it is being modernized now to widen it and straighten out some of the curves. We stopped at the top (the Tazart Rest Area) for a potty and coffee break and to take in the beautiful views. We proceeded into Marrakech where one of our hotel's staff met us at the van and escorted us through the maze of the Marrakech medina to our Riad -- our lodging for the next couple nights. This is one example of how the logistics for the trip were so well thought out and coordinated by Hicham, and well-executed. We had a very nice dinner at the M Rooftop Restaurant (recommended; they have traditional Moroccan options plus some "western" fare -- like hamburgers! -- if you need a break from Moroccan food; not us... we had Beef Tagine and Chicken Pastilla!). It was a nice day, although not as "action-packed" as many of our days so far in Morocco; nice to have a little break.

Quality of Experience
Visiting Aït Benhaddou and traversing the Atlas mountains were the highlights of the day. Ouarzazate and the movie studios were perhaps a bit "meh" for us (for Hicham, too, it seemed).
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Hicham gave us a nice personalized walking tour of Aït Benhaddou.
Transport
Comfortable, as usual.
Private Cooking Class w/ Souk Tour

We took a cooking class at Khadija's Kuzina the evening of our first full day in Essaouira. This was one of the highlights of our entire trip. We had Hussein and Khadijah (and their young son, Amir) all to ourselves for the evening. It started with Hussein meeting us at our hotel (Villa Quieta), walking us to a main street, and then taking a horse-drawn taxi to his neighborhood. He asked us what we would like to prepare for dinner -- we kind of left it up to him, but we were interested in seeing cooking-with-a-tagine technique and also seeing how Bisarra (the fava bean soup that Hicham introduced us to in Marrakech a couple days ago) is made. We help Hussein do the shopping (fruits, vegetables, meat, dry goods, beans, olives -- and more, I'm sure) in his neighborhood souk (street market and shops). He then took us up to his flat (upstairs right in the middle of this neighborhood, literally above some of the shops) where we met his wife, Khadija (the chef) and their son Amir. We relaxed with tea and snacks in their living room while they prepped the kitchen (staging the ingredients) on the prep counter. Khadija then took over and showed us how to prepare the dishes for dinner -- of course, we had to participate and do much of the "work" ourselves. When it was all ready, it was served up on a table in the living room and we enjoyed an authentic home-cooked Moroccan meal. It was a really fun experience. And, of course, the food we prepared was superb!

Quality of Experience
Shopping and dinner prep with a Moroccan family in their own home. Could it get any better than this?
Food
Fresh ingredients... freshly prepared... with expert instruction and great company. Don't know how it could have been any better!
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Not really applicable, but both Hussein and Khadija were so personably and so welcoming. They made us feel so at home. We now have some dear friends in Essaouira!
Transport
The horse-drawn taxi was a fun and unique experience. This wasn't a touristy attraction. It was a very utilitarian, authentic mode of transport that the locals use regularly.
Rabat to Chefchaouen
Rabat to Chefchaouen
Morocco

Beautiful scenery along the way. Part way to Chefchaouen, we met up with our "permanent" driver, Hicham, who was bringing clients back from Chefchaoen (they continued to the airport with Said). After the "chinese fire drill" we and Hicham and his van headed for Chefchaouen. There wasn't too much notable along the way, but we did enjoy the scenery.

Quality of Experience
"Just" a travel experience... nothing earthshaking, pro or con.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
The driver switch was not ideal. Said, our first driver was quiet and did not offer too much (unless asked). Hicham was, today and for the rest of the vacation, a good driver and guide. He offered up useful information as we travelled through the country side and always tried to answer our questions when we asked them.
Transport
Hicham's van was very comfortable and had good visibility. We had lots of room. He made a point of keeping it clean (including the windows) throughout the trip.
Orientation Walk & Free Afternoon in Chefchaouen
Orientation Walk & Free Afternoon in Chefchaouen
Chefchaouen

Hicham gave us a walking tour of Chefchaouen the day of our arrival (May 16) which was delightful. He showed us the narrow pathways and shops of the medina, the main square and the Ras El Ma Waterfall. Hicham was really good (throughout the trip) about offering to take pictures of us (often including himself, too, as a group "selfie") which was great. We had the rest of the evening to ourselves. Per Hicham's recommendation, we walked up to the Spanish Mosque (about 20 minutes) for a beautiful view of Chefchaouen at sunset (and the evening Call to Prayer from various mosques around the city and beyond). We finished the day with a nice dinner on the square. The next day (May 17; the actual day for this experience), Hicham took us on a super-scenic drive to the trailhead for the hike to Cascade d'Akchour. He accompanied us on a hike up to the first falls. There were charming swimming holes and creekside outdoor cafes (lots of taglines!). It was a delightful day trip. We had the rest of the day (after our return to Chefchaouen) further exploring Chefchaouen's medina, including a fascinating 5-story clothing store/riad. We had dinner at Riad Hicham on the balcony overlooking the main square and the kasbah.

Quality of Experience
Hischam's private tour of Chefchaoen's medina was superb. His suggestions for other activities (e.g., the Spanish Mosque) and his willingness to take us up to Cascade d'Akchour and walk with us was so kind.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Hicham was in top form.

Fes to Midelt

Another nice travel day taking us from Fes to the Ksar Timmy hotel north of Midelt. We took a coffee break at the destination small city of Ifrane that looked more like a Colorado or Switzerland alpine ski destination, not a Moroccan village. Indeed, it is an upscale skiing destination (in the wintertime, of course). We stopped to feed the Atlas Monkeys (Barbary Apes) alongside the road on our way through the heavily forested Atlas Mountains. Some locals sold us some bags of carrot spears and we had fun feeding the tame monkeys. Later on, the drive through the high (unforested) farmlands made for good scenery and an interesting view into the Moroccan rural life: lots of sheep farms and sheep herds, some rather impoverished nomadic camps, and small villages (e.g., Azrou and Zayda). After checking in at the Ksar Timnay hotel, we bought a couple beers at the reception desk and took a short walk to a nice, quiet and scenic lake with views of the mountains off in the distance. This was a nice, relaxing day after our hectic day in Fes yesterday.

Quality of Experience
Today we saw the diversity of the Moroccan landscape, the rural life, and the surprisingly modern town of Ifrane.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Hicham continued his capable driving and guiding -- letting us stop at Ifrane for a coffee break, with the Atlas Monkeys, and next to a nomadic encampment.
Transport
Clean, comfortable and good company (my wife and Hicham), as usual.
Merzouga to Dades Valley Via Todgha Gorge
Merzouga to Dades Valley Via Todgha Gorge
Morocco

This was another driving day, but we had some really interesting stops along the way. But the day started out with a moonset, a sunrise, and a delicious breakfast at our desert camp (Madu Premium Camp) and a 4x4 drive back to Riad Madu. (One can opt for a camel ride back, but we decided to take the 4x4 -- it was fun riding over the dunes.) Shortly after leaving Merzouga, we stopped at the Khettaras Irrigation System, a no-longer-used irrigation system to bring water in underground tunnels down from the mountains to the desert. The system has long since been abandoned but a small section had been restored for exhibition purposes. We had fun trying out the pulley and bucket system for removing muck from the tunnel via vertical access shafts. We were also able to climb down in the tunnel. Very interesting. The drive towards Boumalne Dades took us through lots of "real Morocco" -- the rural landscape and small towns. We stopped at Toudgha Gorge and were left off to take a half hour walk along the road going into the gorge -- very narrow, incredible geology, and not to be missed. It is a little touristy with lots of souvenir stalls along road and lots of tourists (including us!). After the gorge, we stopped for lunch at Restaurant Inass in Tinghir. After our experience yesterday, we ordered light and shared... or so we thought! Ahead of the entree that we ordered, they brought us all kinds of lead-ins... bread, pasta, vegetables. And, of course, there was an included dessert. So much for cutting back! But we loved it. Further along, we stopped in the city of Tinghir where a local guide took the two of us on a walk through the cultivated oasis and some old city ruins. It was a very laid back and relaxing stroll and quite a contrast between the lush oasis and the dry, red crumbling structures of the ruins. Our walk ended at a Women's Rug Cooperative where we were shown the by-hand weaving process (with a loom but without a shuttle) and we were able to try it ourselves. We were shown the wide variety of rugs made by the women of the region -- some small and very simple... other huge and incredibly detailed. We now have one (a smaller one) in our front entryway. Hicham finished the drive by taking us up the Dades Gorge (which we would see several times in the next couple days) to our lodging at Chez Ichou. One thing special about this vacation is that even on the days that we are getting from Point A to Point B, our guide shows us some very interesting sites and gives us time to do some exploring. Today was one of those days.

Quality of Experience
Another diverse day. The various stops along the way and the local guides made this day special.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Hicham was great again... Giving us time at various stops to explore on our own. Our young guide in Tinghir was great -- walking us through and telling us about the oasis and the city ruins. Abdou, the salesman at the Rug Cooperative was so friendly -- we had a really good time with him.
Transport
As noted above... the van (that we've been in since before Chefchaouen) is comfortable, roomy, and has great visibility out the windows. Hicham cleans it up almost every (if not every) night so it's spic and span for the next day.
Day with the Locals in the Valley of Roses
Day with the Locals in the Valley of Roses
Morocco

We spent today in the Valley of the Roses with our tour manager, Hicham, some of his family and friends, and our travel agent Sharon Louthian (who is Hicham's sister-in-law) and lives here with her husband, Abdou (Hicham's brother), for a good portion of the year. This was a very relaxing and pleasant day where we enjoyed the company of Hicham and Sharon. We started the day with a grocery shopping trip -- freshly-butchered lamb (we saw it butchered) and fresh vegetables. We then went to Sharon and Abdou's house where one of their friends prepared a luscious lamb, vegetable, and couscous tagine dish. We all shared it at the table in Sharon's living room. It was SO good. Some other friends of theirs came by to help finish off the delicious dish. After this special lunch, Hicham, Sharon, and the two of us took a walk through Hicham's childhood neighborhood. Many of the buildings are abandoned now (unsafe due to substandard construction and deteriorating from old age) and the area is suffering from several years of drought. We tried bringing up some water from an old well that Hicham used as a child, but there was hardly any water to be had. He showed us the old (abandoned) home where he grew up. It was touching to hear his stories about his childhood and I bet it was emotional for him. It was a special experience. Hicham then took us to a local rose oil distillery where gave us a personalized tour and introduction to the distilling process. The shop was filled with the strong aroma of rose oil! Hicham used to have a job delivering products for this shop. We finished the day (except for dinner at Chez Ichou) with a drive back up the Dades Gorge (Sharon came with us), stopping at some of the scenic spots (red rocks, red buildings, the Monkey Fingers, and lush green flora) and on past our hotel to the dramatic Tisderine Bends and the oh-so-narrow upper Dades Gorge.

Quality of Experience
Very personalized -- just us, Sharon, Hicham and some of their friends.
Food
The home-cooked lamb, vegetable and couscous tagine was incredible!
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Hicham and Sharon spent virtually the whole day with us.
Transport
Nice drive around the Valley of the Roses and up to Tisderine Bends in Hicham's van. Plenty of room for all four of us.
Guided Tour of Marrakech
Guided Tour of Marrakech
Marrakesh

We spent most of the day with Hicham as he took us on a tour of the Marrakech medina and the major sites including Rahba Kedima Square, Ben Youseff Madrassa, Le Prince Avenue, the Bahia Palace, Moulay El Yazid Mosque, Koutoubia Mosque and Garden, a natural products pharmacy (Herboristerie Bab Agnaou), and, of course, the iconic Jemaa El-Fnaa Square. Hicham's style, which we really appreciated, was to lead us to the site (with some commentary along the way), give us an introduction to the history and the significance of the site, and then give us a little time to explore on our own. He was alway willing (and usually took the initiative) to take pictures of us, often including selfies of him with us. He always took several photos from several angles and zoom levels for us to choose from. One little special "surprise" was a stop at a small local sidewalk cafe (probably frequented almost exclusively by locals) to enjoy the Moroccan specialty, Bisarra, a fava been soup (often served with Moroccan home bread for breakfast). It was delicious.

Quality of Experience
A busy day! We saw lots of the "must see" landmarks of Marrakech, but I bet there were many more we could have seen. Only one full day in Marrakech probably isn't enough.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
As noted above, Hicham gave us a wonderful walking tour of the medina. It was a perfect balance of history, background information, answering questions, and giving us time to explore on our own at each venue.
Transport
Not really applicable for this experience, but walking is definitely to only (and best) way to visit the Marrakech medina.

I would also like to apologize again for Hicham's sudden departure. As I explained at the time, he had something come up that required his immediate return to the valley - I didn't know about it either until he was on his way back that day. I do believe that this was mostly just an oversight on his part. He knew that you had a couple of free days in Essaouira at the end and in his haste to get back to back to the Valley by the deadline, he made the arrangements for your transfer with another one of our tour managers, but neglected to let you know until he had already left. When he arrived home, though, both Abdou and I both addressed this point with him particularly stressing that he should have kept you in the loop and should have found a moment to stop by and say goodbye to you before he left.
At any rate, we are glad to hear that this didn't impact your trip too much and that you still had a wonderful time in our beautiful country.
Oh and thanks for sending the video of both of your trips. I really enjoyed watching it! Keep in touch and we will definitely let you know if we find ourselves in the Pacific Northwest!
Thanks,
Sharon, Abdou, Hicham, and the rest of the Morocco Immersion family

Wow - we were so impressed with Justine! She listened to what was important to us and planned the perfect trip for us to Provence. The cooking class with Cyril that she suggested is not something we would ever have picked out on our own, and it was one of the highlights of the trip! We told her some of the hotels we have enjoyed in the past in other countries and she found us a unique converted farmhouse in a small town outside of Aix that was exactly what we were hoping for. Her recommendations for excursions were excellent, and even her recommendations on things like where to park on busy summer days were spot on and I'm sure saved us a lot of time. We enjoyed our day visiting vineyards with Remy as well as exploring the villages of the Luberon Valley and cruising in Cassis on our own. We've gone on fully guided trips before as well as ones we completed planned on our own, so this was the first time using KimKim. It certainly will not be our last time - we had such a great holiday! We felt like we had the support we might need in a country where we didn't speak the language, and in the end felt like we really got to spend time experiencing the culture, food and people of southern France instead of worrying about itinerary details and if we were missing out by not having an insider's knowledge of the area. We fell in love with Provence and the French Riviera and if (hopefully) we return soon, we won't hesitate to ask for Justine to help plan a trip in the area again! I cannot recommend her enough. Thank you Justine and KimKim!

Hotel du Pin

The location was absolutely perfect for exploring Nice. We had a car so their parking lot was invaluable. The staff was lovely and the room was actually quite big by European standards. The downside to the location was that it was incredibly loud at night and then once the restaurants in the area closed, it got loud again when the trash was picked up before dawn. Overall, I would stay here again if in Nice.

Authenticity & Character
It felt like a nice hotel in a city but nothing felt particularly French or French riviera about it. No complaints though.
Location
It was within walking distance of many of the main places - the restaurants on Rue Bonaparte, the city market, the beaches, etc.
Staff
They were LOVELY.
Cleanliness & Comfort
We had trouble with the AirCon and we couldn't keep the windows open at night because it was so loud.
In Provence Hotel
Venelles

This was a very unique hotel and we enjoyed our time there! While it was nice to be able to check in with the machine, there were a few times we had questions and it would have been nice to have an actual person there to ask. The Aircon stopped working the last two nights and since there was no one to ask, we just dealt with the higher temperature which was not preferable. We loved the location - just outside of Aix and we could easily drive all over Provence from here - yet in a small town where we felt like we got to experience living in France vs staying in hotel chain. We loved walking down to the restaurants and the bakery was only a couple blocks away - it was fabulous. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area who was looking for a more authentic and unique stay.

Authenticity & Character
It's a converted farmhouse and you could really feel that character. I loved the unique room and it felt authentic to the area instead of staying in a more sterile corporate hotel that you end up with in bigger cities.
Location
We loved the small town feel. We walked down to the square, the local pub, the bakery, etc and got to know some of the people working there since we were there for 5 days.
Staff
I feel like poor isn't the right answer....we never actually met anyone who worked here because it was automated check in and check out. The automated check in told us that we had to pay 13 euro per person/per day for breakfast so we never went to that although later our KimKim person told us that it was supposed to have been included. Since there wasn't anyone working there we weren't able to find that out in time to actually enjoy breakfast there.
Cleanliness & Comfort
I thought the bed was really comfortable!

Justine offered this option to us and I am so glad that we agreed to do it! We would never have signed up for this on our own. Cyril was fantastic. He gave us some history of the area while visiting the market and we were able to try a lot of different foods that I don't think we would have picked out ourselves to try. Then cooking it was so fun! We were in a real apartment and it just felt like we were cooking with friends for a dinner party in Nice rather than being part of a tourist experience. Cyril told us about cooking with his grandma and everything about the whole experience made us feel so welcome. This was such a great way to start our trip - plus I knew that we wanted to order the squash blossoms on every menu afterwards!

We had such a fun time visiting the vineyards with Remy! The first vineyard was big and a bit corporate so that wasn't our favorite, although we did enjoy doing the chocolate pairing. The second vineyard was lovely and we enjoyed talking with them and tasting their wines. However, we LOVED the last vineyard, Jas Monges! We really enjoyed speaking with the owner and learning about their vision. We also loved his wines and ended up shipping 2 cases home to the states. We could have hung out there even longer, enjoying wine out on their patio. Remy also took us to explore some local food in Aix during the day (we chose that over sitting down for a long lunch) and that was another true highlight. He was a wonderful guide. What a great day!

Not only are the rooms pleasant with modern amenities and soothing wood paneling, but you also have the benefit of staying in a historic building with an amazing view of the old town tower right outside our room and a view of the old town platz. Breakfast was exceptional with high quality ingredients and presentation, along with exceptional coffee!

The guides on guided nature hikes are incredible. They can locate birds and other animals in the canopy or insects on trees that we would miss. Some could even imitate bird sounds enough to interact with the birds.

One of the drivers on the shuttle buses between places in CR was especially interesting to talk to and gave us many good tips. He worked for Interbus and his name was Alex. He speaks English fluently. With luck you'll he'll be your driver too.

The ziplining in Monteverde was fun and I highly recommend paying extra for the "Superman" harness that lets you lie prone as you zipline over the forest.

I miss the fruit in Costa Rica! It's something you can't take back with you. You can only encourage others to go there to try it.

This is a modern hotel which is very convenient to the airport. The shuttle runs regularly. If you have a room which faces the railway line expect some noise, but there are few trains and it finishes early enough. A good restaurant with Costa Rican food a short walk away is "Rosti".

For this type of hotel I don't expect authenticity and character.

This is a small family owned and operated hotel with a super friendly and helpful staff! If you have your own wheels it's easier to go to the center of town, otherwise it's a taxi or long walk. But it's also quiet so you will probably sleep better than at a hotel in town. The freshly prepared breakfasts (no buffet) were also good.

Authenticity & Character
This is a small family owned and operated hotel away from the center of town. I liked it.

Far from the main town area but quieter and closer to nature because of that.

A pity that they don't make a video of that for you, only the regular zip line at the beginning. The zip lining is rather rushed but they need to run many people through the system. Svend Erik was so helpful and patient at the airport and throughout our trip. He waited for our arrival and helped sort out the walker/rollator that didn’t arrive with us. He took care of that and found a temporary replacement for our traveler to use so she wasn’t held back from enjoying our trip. His hospitality, concern and care for us was felt throughout our wonderful 10 days in Denmark. We loved that he was our bus driver and tour guide so he could get to know our interests and needs while on our trip ( which is quite a feat considering our group size and diverse personalities)! He was also so great with the kids who ranged in age from 5-14 years old. He took time to teach them about the Royal Guard and how to drum. He also added a quick stop to a place we were interested in going at the last minute. We are so grateful to have met him and have him show us Denmark!

We totally enjoyed our trip to Norway! We started our journey by being picked up by a driver at the airport in Bergen who drove us to our hotel, the Hotel Norge. The three hotels we stayed in were lovely and very well located. We could walk everywhere, which was a huge plus. Highlights in Bergen included the walking tour with Thomas, the ride up the funicular, dinner at the top, and the fjord boat ride. We also liked having "wandering" time and enjoyed the fish market.

The journey to Flam was smooth and beautiful. We rode the bus (with a lovely viewpoint stop) and then the electric ferry. It was soooo quiet. We had beautiful weather the entire time which was lucky and great! Our apartment in Flam was perfect. We enjoyed the RIB boat ride and stop for brown cheese! Also, the kayaking trip added a new perspective of the fjord. We really liked the floating sauna, which was right near our hotel. It looked a little hokey on the outside, but was beautiful on the inside! We finished our Flam events by going on the scenic viewpoint van ride. What a harrowing experience, driving on that road. But our guide, (Peter or Paul from Hungary) was an excellent driver and very funny.

It was sad to leave lovely Flam, but it was time to head out on the train to complete the rest of the Norway in a Nutshell tour. Unfortunately, our train trip had to be modified because of a derailment near Oslo. We took the train to Myrdal (beautiful waterfall and dancer at the top!) and then to Al. We all had to get off and boarded a bus to take the rest of the way. Fenne and Rufo assured us that the train folks would be ready for us and they were.

We arrived in Oslo that evening and were able to walk to our hotel - The Grand Hotel. Again, very centrally located and lovely. The next day, we walked to our bike tour group. Our guide, Nike, was fabulous. Highly recommend her. We saw many highlights of the city and got a great overview.

By this time, David was not feeling well at all. I was just finishing up a mild case of Covid, but David's case was much, much worse. We stopped in a pharmacy and the pharmacist told us about a clinic called Dr. Doppin that we could visit to see a doctor. You should know that this is available for your future clients. I checked with Rufo back at the hotel and he said the pharmacist probably knew more this than he did . He then sent me the website I told him about. We made an appointment for the next morning and were seen by a very good doctor. He prescribed many medications for David. I went to two more pharmacies to pick up the drugs and got David on his regimen. Luckily, we were staying at the very comfortable Grand Hotel, where they even let me pack up a breakfast doggie bag for David the next morning. Unfortunately, we missed our dinner cruise that night, but Rufo did try to reschedule for us. He could not, but as it turns out, David would not have been able to make it the next day, either.

This was the end of our scheduled KimKim activities in Norway. I spent the next beautiful day going to the Munch Museum and the Opera House and bringing dinner back to David. The next day, I took the bus to the Folklore Museum, while David rested. By the next morning, he was better and we could actually walk to the train station to catch our train to the airport. All was smooth sailing after that. We are now in Stockholm with family and enjoying our time in Sweden.

Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable. We will definitely recommend KimKim to our friends!

You completely put your trust in me and in my recommendations from the very beginning. Something unexpected to find nowadays. I was very happy to include your daughter's boyfriend at the very last-minute, hoping your family would have appreciated it a lot. Our cooperation has been amazing. Especially your patience and excitement during the whole process, from the planning phase to the day by day experiences along the journey. I am the one who would like to recommend you to any travel agents out there. If you may decide for a second visit to beautiful Norway, I am here ready to design an itinerary involving the Northern part of the country. Stunning landscapes and a good Italian cup of coffee at my place are waiting for you. :)
I wish you and your family all the best.

We highly recommend our Kimkim team in Costa Rica. We did an impromptu trip and received amazing services from Gustavo and Jessica. Gustavo was able to formulate our trip itinerary and book everything with a turn around time of 6 hours. Thank you for making our trip so memorable, he organized the trip based on our preferences. Jessica was great at navigating our day to day plans and was quick with her communication. We will definitely use Kimkim for our future travels.

I just returned from one of the most epic adventures of my life. I went on this trip as a 57 year old single mom from Alexandria, Virginia, USA.
I have Sara, (my wonderful Kim Kim Travel contact/trip organizer) and Gilmar (my amazing jungle guide) to thank for this superior experience.
Sara organized the entire trip for me down to the last detail. She made sure that all of my requests were fulfilled and that she was available at all times to answer questions and navigate through itinerary changes during the expedition. From the moment we met over the KimKim website Sara was responsive, detail oriented, and timely in her feedback.
She supported me the entire way from the take off at IAD to landing back home 12 days later.
Sara's English was excellent and her resources on the ground in Manaus were reliable and friendly.
My guide, Gilmar, had 14 years of jungle guiding experience and provided for my safety and well being from the moment he met me to my final drop off at the Holiday Inn. Gilmar spoke English well and knew the jungle inside-out. I felt safe with Gilmar by my side and learned so many wonderful things about the Amazon jungle from him. He showed me how to fish for Pirhana, set up hammocks in the deep jungle, fry fish on a fire and build a frying rack made from jungle wood. He showed me how to spot Caymans at night and sight monkeys and iguanas and sloths in the tree tops and make plates out of palm leaves.
On my final day in Manaus I woke up unbelievably grateful, thinking that this had been one of the most epic adventures of my life. I actually shed a few tears of happiness when I thought of everything that I had done and experienced in the last two weeks.
This trip did not just meet my expectations; it surpassed them.
It is without hesitation that I would recommend Sara and Gilmar for anyone wishing to have the ultimate Jungle Experience.

Amazon Mureru Lodge
Careiro - AM

The Amazon Mureru Lodge was a wonderful base lodge for my two week jungle expedition. The rooms were clean and the beds were well made. The owner of the lodge, Rosanna, had breakfast waiting in the mornings which included hand squeezed fruit juice. While I was sleeping in the jungle Rosanna made sure the my room stayed secure and that my passport was safe. I especially liked this lodge for its local appeal. It is a lodge for fishermen and, interestingly enough, local electricians who were working on power lines. The lodge had a long dock which allowed me to swim laps in the Amazon river on most days. We were able to catch fish off of another end of the lodge and the sunsets were beyond compare. I would recommend the Mureru Lodge to anyone wishing an authentic Amazon Jungle experience.

At the end of my 12 day Deep Jungle Expedition I feeling super happy having had an amazing experience but also tired and dirty and in need of a long hot shower. This was to be expected. The Holiday Inn provided everything that I was looking for. The hotel caters to international guests and their more modern needs. The rooms were spotless. The beds were so comfortable that I fell asleep without 60 seconds of laying my head on the soft white pillows. The showers were hot with a strong steady stream of water. They had American snacks waiting for me. I devoured them. Their evening and breakfast buffets were delicious and the staff was friendly, helpful, and kind. It was the perfect hotel for before and after my jungle expedition. Without exception I would recommend this hotel to any internationally traveling guest. Thank you, Sara, for including this hotel in my trip.

Hey, Deb!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and feedback. 🙂

The Sea & Land tour does not actually mention in the description that you will visit the beaches with a stop so you can stay on the beach. It mentions that you will discover the beauty of those beaches by snorkeling while swimming. The boat can not access the beach as the waters are shallow on shore. Only smaller boats can approach up to a point. I am sorry for that misunderstanding and the fact that the cruise transfer driver wasn't clear about where he would drop you off for the land portion of the tour. 🙂
I have already communicated this to the local office on the same exact day you had the tour. I am sure that they will take all the needed measures to make this tour operate more effectively. It is the first year it operates and apparently, they did not think all things through as they should have!
Your feedback is so valuable to help improve! 🙏

I am really happy that I was able to assist you and that you had a great time here in Greece.

We would love to see you coming back soon and show you more of our amazing country!

Greetings from Greece,
Angela and the GA Trips team
