The hotel features original hand-carved stone facades and detailed woodwork. Each of the eight rooms has terraces with views of city landmarks like the Egyptian Lighthouse and Venetian Port, with all but one room overlooking the sea. Travelers are made to feel at home by the local staff, such as Eva, the hotel manager, who has run the small hotel for over 14 years.

Located within the Old Venetian Port of Chania, the Alcanea Hotel is surrounded by dining and shopping options, as well as historic buildings and experiences. Nearby attractions include the Maritime Museum of Chania, Kucuk Hasan Mosque,  Municipal Art Gallery, and Folklore Museum of Chania, all within a 10-minute walk of the hotel. Local beaches are slightly farther away, but both Nea Chora Beach and Koum Kapi Beach can be reached within a 20 to 25-minute walk. As the hotel is situated in a pedestrian-only zone, travelers can enjoy a car-free environment bustling with people strolling the streets.

With just eight rooms, the hotel is quite small, but each room feels distinct with unique layout and decor. Options range from the compact Double Room, perfect for two, to the spacious Superior Double Room on the second floor. Furnishings include vintage pieces and stone or wood flooring. Bathrooms are modern, with black-tiled walls, natural stone basins, and walk-in rain showers. All rooms offer balconies with mixed views of the Old Port and the Lighthouse of Chania, with all but one room having sea views.

The hotel features a charming inner garden courtyard decorated in traditional Cretan style, perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
