Fedriades Hotel, Delphi

Small hotel in central Delphi with panoramic Gulf of Corinth views, a bar, and well-reviewed restaurant

Overview

Located in the foothills of Mount Parnassos, Fedriades Delphi Hotel is primely placed in central Delphi, with strollable access to many attractions, including the Temple of Apollo. Its best feature, though, is its view over the Pleistos valley leading to the Gulf of Corinth, only seen from top-floor rooms. Guests can enjoy the café-bar, fireplace lounge, and dine at the highly-praised Epikouros Restaurant across the street, serving fine Greek and Mediterranean dishes with some of the area's best valley views.

Kimkim's Take

Pros
  • The Fedriades is so well placed you can take 20-30 minutes to walk (uphill) to the Temple of Apollo and other historic ruins of the archaeological site.
  • While all rooms offer a modest balcony, guests staying in rooms on the top floor are rewarded with views of the Gulf of Corinth.
  • The hotel's Epikouros Restaurant (less than a minute's walk down the street) serves Greek fare throughout the day and offers exceptional valley and gulf views.
  • After a day of exploring, you can order a drink from the bar, sit by the fireplace, or play a tune on the keyboard in the lounge.
  • Guests can enjoy the convenience of being close to the bus station and taxi terminals for alternative transportation options.
Cons
  • Some rooms have limited views, facing the wall of a neighboring building.
  • With limited street parking available, you might have a hard time finding a spot, especially when returning late in the day from exploring. That said, there's a small public lot up the street.
  • The breakfast buffet receives mostly top marks. However, it's not always included in the room rate.

Authenticity

Lightly influenced by neoclassical architecture, Fedriades doesn't offer much else in the way of authenticity, save for its restaurant down the street that serves up Greek and Mediterranean dishes. The hotel's privileged location, however, is what provides its guests with an experience that is Greek: beautiful views that span over olive groves out to the Gulf of Corinth and close proximity to the ancient site of Delphi—once considered the center of the earth.

Location

Fedriades central location in Delphi is a real boon for those who like to walk. It's only 10 minutes on foot to the Delphi Archaeological Museum and close to 20 to reach the Temple of Apollo (though it's an uphill walk, not to mention within 5 minutes you'll find restaurants (including the hotel's Epikouros Restaurant), shops, public parking lot, and the taxi stand and bus terminal. If traveling without a rental car, you can also schedule an airport shuttle (for a fee).

Rooms & Bathrooms

Nine room types accommodate 1-4 guests; most are fairly small (as are their bathrooms) with balconies that look onto the street or neighboring buildings. For more space and better views, book yourself into a room on the top floor. Rooms are bright, with white tiled floors and glass doors opening up to concrete balconies, and while the property has undergone a renovation in 2022, they still come across as a little underwhelming. Yet, rooms with a panoramic view more than make up for the lack of a vibe. COCO-MAT mattresses are a nice perk, as are the Zealots' bathroom products.

Amenities

The hotel's standout amenity is Epikouros Restaurant, which serves Greek and Mediterranean dishes alongside incredible panoramas of the Pleistos valley and Corinthian Sea. You'll also find a small café-bar, fireplace lounge, and a small games room. While there isn't a spa or pool, the scenic surroundings and proximity to local attractions more than compensate for this.

Family-Friendliness

Parents with kids have a few room options, sleeping up to three guests (Triple Room with Panoramic View and Economy Triple Room) or accommodating four (Family Interconnecting Room, Quadruple Room with Spa, or the more spacious Junior Suite with Panoramic View and Spa). Cribs are available upon request. Young musicians can play on the keyboard and kids can check out what games are featured in the games room.

Though it is in a nice location, the hotel is tiny, with most rooms that overlook a wall. The manager is unfriendly, crochety, and completely arrogant. He put our kids in a smoking room, claimed he was sold out and couldn't switch them until we complained to our travel agent, refused to fix the broken TV & A/C in our room and instead accused my husband of breaking it. The balconies in two of our rooms were so small that all we could do is put our clothes out there to dry; there was little... Read more

He put our kids in a smoking room, claimed he was sold out and couldn't switch them until we complained to our travel agent, refused to fix the broken TV & A/C in our room and instead accused my husband of breaking it. The balconies in two of our rooms were so small that all we could do is put our clothes out there to dry; there was little room for two people to sit and enjoy sunrise or sunset. The breakfast buffet looked really nice, but most of the breads and dry foods were stale because they put them away in a nearby cabinet, then take them out every morning.

Location
In the center of town, near a lot of restaurants
Staff
Customer service -- don't yell at guests or accuse them of breaking your temperamental fridge, A/C and tiny TV
Cleanliness & Comfort
Smoking rooms meant everything smelled even in the non-smoking rooms. Awful view in some rooms in the back of just a large wall. No working A/C or minifridge

I really enjoyed our stay at Fedriades Hotel in Delphi. The town itself was beautiful, and the hotel offered stunning views of the valley from our windows. The restaurant right across the street, recommended by the hotel manager, was great too. It had a large bank of windows with valley views and delicious food. There was a bit of an odd situation where one room was significantly larger with a sitting area, kitchen, and giant patio, so we ended up drawing straws to see who would get it. It... Read more

Didn’t love this one and actually checked out a day early. The room was extra small, the bed very hard with small, flat pillows, couldnt get the ac to work and burned up at night. My panoramic view was seen over a huge roof, so not quite as advertised. No parking anywhere. Small bar but unattended. On the bright side, clean, breakfast was super and the town is adorable. It will only take about an hour to explore the whole things. Wonderful restaurant across the street with a better view.... Read more

Great location. Views on upper floors are best.
Staff was very friendly, helpful with finding parking which could be a problem (especially if you return to your hotel later in the evening from a drive).
Hotel was a bit older, but very clean and very comfortable. Easy walking distance to ruins.
Would stay here again.

The views from this hotel are absolutely breathtaking! The bathrooms were very small with no counter space and I thought the bed was so hard and uncomfortable. But honestly it may have been worth it for tbt views!
