Sebastiaan Kuitenbrouwer

Travel has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I explored Spain and France with my parents, but as I got older, my curiosity grew, and so did my trips. I wanted to see more of the world, experience different cultures, and soak in landscapes completely different from the flat fields of the Netherlands. Sometimes that meant city-hopping for history and architecture; other times, it was road-tripping through wild nature. No matter the destination, every trip leaves me with stories, memories, and the urge to plan the next adventure.

How did you get involved in travel?

"During my student years, I took every chance I could to travel— in groups or solo, short or long trips, near or far. Later, I also discovered the beauty of traveling closer to home and the charm of smaller, lesser-known destinations that often have the best surprises. One of my favorite travel experiences wasn’t just a trip but organizing one: a weekend in Edinburgh for 50 people with wildly different interests. From hikes to whisky tastings and ghost tours, making it all work was a challenge—but what an amazing weekend it turned out to be!"

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"So many to choose from! Like that time I took the train from the Netherlands to Russia, and at the border, we had to hand over our passports—without a clue if we'd ever get them back. Or the road trip through Australia with a good friend, full of adventure and endless horizons. And then there was the journey through southern Africa to the Okavango Delta, where nature was at its most breathtaking. But honestly? Some of my favorite travel memories are the simplest ones—like paddling down a quiet river in France with my kids, watching them make new friends on a glamping site, while I kicked back with a book and a glass of wine, taking in a gorgeous view."
