Siobhan Warwicker

Having grown up in England's least populated county of Northumberland, my travel is driven by a passion for nature and the outdoors. I've trekked in the Himalayas and the Western Balkans — while closer to home, adventures in Scotland are only a stone's throw away, from the glorious Highlands to barely inhabited islands. My 18-year-old camper van, named Tinkerbell, helps me reach remote corners of the British Isles.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"Nepal, Portugal, France, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Thailand, Malaysia (including Borneo), North America, the UK"

How did you get involved in travel?

"During my decade in London, various jobs in newspapers and magazines meant I had the opportunity to travel for work. In fact, my time at a wedding magazine spelled many a night alone in a romantic honeymoon suite! After leaving the city to be a freelance writer, I was able to take longer trips (sometimes for months at a time), while working on the road."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"On my way down from trekking to Mardi Himal Base Camp in Nepal, I stumbled across a guest house positioned inches above a dense plain of clouds that stretched to the horizon, blanketing the vast Annapurna mountain rage. Swinging in a hammock as the owner blasted 90s rock songs, with these clouds below me and the 'fishtail' mountain peak above, was a surreal edge-of-the-Earth feeling like nothing else."
