How to Get from Athens to Mykonos

Mykonos is roughly 114 miles from Athens, and there are two transport options to reach it: ferries and flights. There are two types of ferries: "fast ferries," which offer more direct routes but are more susceptible to weather delays, and "slow ferries" which are less costly but take about double the travel time on routes with more stops. Flying from Athens to Mykonos takes about 35 minutes, plus a 10-minute drive from the airport to town once you arrive.
From Athens, ferries depart regularly from the port of Piraeus or Rafina. Piraeus is 25 mins from the city center with 3-4 ferries daily (in season). Rafina is about 1 hour from the city center by taxi, but it offers more choice of ferries, with up to 7 per day. The journey takes between 2-4.5 hours depending on stops (slightly longer from Rafina).
The quickest way to reach Mykonos from Athens is by plane. Located 2 miles outside of Mykonos town, there are up to 7 flights from Athens and Thessaloniki daily in the high season. From the airport, a taxi or private transfer to Mykonos town takes roughly 10 minutes.
