There are 104 miles (168 km) separating Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, famous for its canals and floating markets. To travel between them, the most popular option is a two-hour plane ride—though traveling by shuttle or private transfer. With travel time to get to and from the airports in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho, the travel time will likely be approximately the same between all options.

By Plane

Duration: 2 hours, 15 minutes

The quickest and simplest option to get from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho is to take a flight. Those considering this option should note that there is no direct flight option, and all flights will have layovers—some of which can be quite tight—at a connecting airport.

That said, a flight is still the fastest way to get between the cities, with some flight options cutting the travel time down to just two hours and fifteen minutes.

By Shuttle or Bus

Duration: 3.5 hours

For those who would like to reach Can Tho as quickly as possible, without stopping for long along the way, numerous shuttle and bus services offer transport. There are multiple bus departures per day from Ho Chi Minh City's Mien Tay bus station that travel directly to Can Tho, making one rest stop along the way.

Independent shuttle services may also pick travelers from their hotels, and offer a slightly more comfortable experience. Shuttles are a good option for larger groups who would fill a shuttle or van, and like the convenience of traveling together and departing directly from their accommodations in Ho Chi Minh City.

By Private Transfer

Duration: 3.5 hours, more with stops

For those who would like to stop at points of interest along the way from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, and to control their departure time completely, a private transfer may be the best option.

One particular point along the way that travelers may like to stop at is Vinh Long, a transport hub on the Cho Chien River. Like Can Tho, Vinh Long has numerous canals and islets covered in orchids. Văn Thánh Miếu Pagoda, a 19th-century Chinese pagoda, is also worth a stop.
