Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Delhi, Free Evening
Welcome to Delhi! After passing through immigration and customs, meet your guide for a traditional swagat (welcome) and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the evening is free for your independent activities. If you'd like, visit one of the city's markets and indulge in some souvenir shopping, or head to the Chawri Bazar to sample street food.
Day 2: Full-Day Sightseeing Tour of Old and New Delhi
Begin your tour of India's capital in Old Delhi—crowded, full of activity, and still influenced by the Mughals who once ruled from the ramparts of the majestic Red Fort. After pickup from your hotel, make your way to this UNESCO-listed fort for an amazing view of the city below. Next, visit the Jama Masjid, the largest 17th-century mosque in India. From here, take a rickshaw tour of the bustling Chandni Chowk Market, which was the center of the city in Mughal times. Next, explore the textile market, the Kinari Bazaar (wedding market), the Khari Baoli spice market, and the Nai Sarak book market.
After stopping for an authentic lunch, head into New Delhi and visit Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Later, drive past the Presidential Palace and Secretariat Buildings, and down the impressive Rajpath to India Gate. The tour will end with a visit to Qutub Minar, the world's tallest brick minaret, before stopping at the Tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. Then, return to your hotel for the evening.
Day 3: Fly to Guwahati, Transfer to Kaziranga National Park
Wake up early in the morning to transfer to the Delhi Airport, from where you'll take an early flight to Guwahati, a city in India's northeastern Assam State. On arrival in Guwahati, your driver will be waiting to pick you up and drive you straight to Kaziranga National Park, home to the one-horned rhinoceros, located about 137 miles (220 km) from Guwahati Airport (about four to five hours). Arrive and check in at your hotel, then spend the rest of the day at your leisure. If you'd like, take a stroll near the resort and bask in the serenity of nature.Day 4: Elephant & Jeep Wildlife Safaris in Kaziranga National Park
Wake up early in the morning and take an elephant safari to visit the Central Range of the park for a couple of hours before returning to the hotel for breakfast. This park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, also has tigers, large breeding elephants, wild water buffaloes, and swamp deer. Apart from this, the park is home to various species of migratory and domestic birds and is blessed with different kinds of vegetation.
After breakfast, take some free time to relax at the hotel. Post-lunch, proceed to the park again to enjoy another Jeep wildlife safari. Spend the afternoon spotting exotic animals and bird species. After exploring the park, return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 5: Morning Tribal Village Visit & Afternoon Safari
After breakfast, go on a tribal village visit to see how the Assamese rear silkworms. Spend some time with the local villagers, and learn about their lifestyle. Visit a tea garden and orchid sanctuary, with the chance to explore the tea estate and spend time on the plantations. After finishing the tour, return to your hotel and have lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy another Jeep safari inside the Central Range of the Kaziranga National Park to increase your chance of more wildlife sightings. This park is famous for its endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros, which are only found in large numbers here. Your evening is free to explore the surroundings.
