Kimkim allowed us to design a trip that fit our personalities and needs - guidance on what to see as well as reservations for key museums and bike rentals. It felt like a trip that we designed rather than a large group tour, but was much better than I could have done on my own without some knowledge of the country. During the planning phase, Bas was great at responding to our requested changes and questions.

We had a few glitches as we arrived, but the team (either Bas or Meike) responded very promptly and helped us to get back on track.

The location was great in the city, but our room was very small and musty with little air circulation. We were there during some hot days in August and there didn't seem to be any fans or solutions available even when we asked. Luckily, our party had two rooms, and the other room had a fan that they shared with us. The staff were kind, but didn't have the English skills needed to assist our basic knowledge of Dutch; this led to a few instances of miscommunication that left us all frustrated.

Authenticity & Character
The building is very quirky with doors that you have to open and close to move between sections of the building and shut off access (momentarily) to others moving through the building. There was a sign that actually said Heerlijkheid Bergen, so we had some questions if we were in the right place. .

Close to public transportation, shops and local attractions.
Staff
We had a hard time communicating with some of the staff and felt scolded when we had questions.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The room just smelled moldy, and didn't have any way to move air through to make it better. There was a nice sitting area where we could hang out, but it was small and not always available.

Henk and Anne-Marie are amazing hosts. They helped orient us to the city, find some places to eat, and shared information about events taking place. The breakfasts were simple and delicious. We were traveling as a family, and we were able to have a space in our room to play boardgames and wind down for the evening.

Our trip was amazing! It was wonderful working with our local specialist, Fleur! She asked about our family and the types of things we like to do. She worked with our input to finalize the itinerary, and then took care of all of the arrangements.

Fleur planned an excellent trip for us. Sure went through several iterations before we had the perfect trip planned and she was very responsive to us. Fleur planned an excellent trip for us. Sure went through several iterations before we had the perfect trip planned and she was very responsive to us. We particularly enjoyed the multiple private tours she arranged (both walking and biking) in each city we visited. The canal canoe tour was a great break from the busy city. Our castle sightseeing day trip out of Dinant with Joris was a highlight for the whole family. Our accommodations were mostly perfect. The heat wave (outside of everyone's control) made the nights in Dinant without air conditioning a bit miserable. But the location was perfect to walk into town. Fleur was very helpful when we ran into challenges (like cancelled trains or unresponsive taxi services). Overall, I would not hesitate to use Kimkim for our next vacation.

Beautiful and clean. The blackout curtains were magical. Great location for getting to the central station or anywhere in Amsterdam. The in-room laundry was very convenient (but quite slow ~5 hours per small load, so plan accordingly if you are needing to do laundry). Very friendly staff at the front desk.

Great location to walk into the town center or along the river. Quiet street. Very clean. There was not hand soap for the kitchen or bathroom. And there was no soap for the shower. The lack of soap in the shower is understandable, but no hand soap in the bathroom was not great. I understand that A/C is uncommon in a house like this. But it would have been lovely if they had a couple fans for the bedrooms.
