Athenian Riviera Bike Ride, Athens

Leave the bustle of Athens behind and cycle toward the beautiful Athenian Riviera, complete with tall palm trees and relaxed vibes. You'll get a glimpse of the city beyond its central core, peddling through its suburbs and coastal hub. 

You'll start your tour on the biggest pedestrian street of Athens near the Acropolis, cycling through the scenic Plaka neighborhood. On the way to the Roman Agora, enjoy views of Acropolis Hill and its many monuments. Before heading out to the riviera, you'll visit the Thission neighborhood and Kerameikos, an Ancient Greek cemetery.

To reach the coastline, you'll follow a peaceful bike path through three neighborhoods: Petralona, Kallithea, and Moschato. The path is flat, so you can easily catch glimpses of locals going about their day. After about 45 minutes, you'll stop at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, a masterpiece of modern architecture. The Foundation houses the National Library and the National Opera House.

You may start to smell the fresh sea air at this point, as you meet the Athenian Riviera coastline, passing the Naval Museum and the Flisvos Marina. You'll cycle along the coast for a bit before stopping at Alimos Marina. Afterward, find a sandy beach to relax or have a drink at the beach bar.

Once refreshed, you'll start your return to the city center. Along the way, make one final stop at a favorite bakery to taste handmade pastries.
