Guided Excursion to Matakana's Vineyards + Brick Bay Sculpture Walk, Auckland

You'll visit several wineries, enjoy lunch at an award-winning restaurant, and stroll through the sculpture walk at Brick Bay to see work by some of New Zealand's major contemporary artists. You may also stop by a local gallery to see some of the country's emerging artists before heading back to Auckland.

This all-day excursion begins with a pickup in Auckland's city center, where you'll meet your knowledgeable guide. Your guide will take you about an hour north to Matakana, a picturesque village that's home to various wineries, farmers markets, and well-known restaurants. You'll head to a few vineyards to taste different wines from New Zealand and learn more about the country's wine production. 

Afterward, you'll head to Brick Bay, the site of an hour-long sculpture walk. This memorable trail winds through a lush environment of native flora, fauna, and ponds filled with water lilies, and contemporary sculptures are scattered throughout, which your guide will point out as they introduce you to New Zealand's modern art scene. At one point during the day, you'll stop for lunch at an award-winning rural restaurant, where you can taste the flavors and produce that have made Matakana a destination for food lovers. If there's time, you'll stop at a local gallery to see work by emerging visual artists, and then your guide will take you back to Auckland.
