What you'll do
This culinary adventure starts just outside of Seville as you traverse the picturesque hilltop towns around Aracena and Jabugo to visit a family-run pig farm in the heart of the Sierra de Huelva. Here, delve into the world of Iberian ham, one of the most sought-after delicacies in Spain and a must-try during your visit to the country. This day trip will take you through the entire artisanal process of creating Iberian ham and provide you with a unique, immersive experience in the Natural Park of Aracena.
Upon arrival at the farm, you'll be greeted by your host, who will lead you through the grounds and facilities. You'll learn about the breeding and production of the Iberian pig in this idyllic setting, where the pigs graze on acorns in a UNESCO-declared Biosphere Reserve. Explore the salting area and the bodegas, where the jamón is hung to cure, while your guide shares stories about the family's farming practices and the reasons behind their traditional methods.
Under the guidance of a master carver, you'll learn to differentiate various types of cured meat and discover the proper techniques for carving Iberian ham.
