What you'll do

Begin your Madrid adventure by meeting your expert guide in front of Francisco Goya's statue, a fitting starting point for the cultural journey ahead. You'll skip the line and dive straight into the Museo Nacional del Prado, home to over 7,000 pieces of art. Over 90 minutes, your guide will lead you through a curated tour of 15-20 masterpieces, including the iconic "Las Meninas." With insightful narratives about the artists and the history behind their works, you'll gain a deeper understanding of Spain's artistic legacy. Afterward, use a 30-minute break to explore the museum's gift shop or grab a quick refreshment at the café.

Next, you'll follow your guide through the Literary Quarter, historically home to some of Spain's most renowned literary figures. Stroll down charming cobblestone streets and duck into some local haunts for a taste of tapas or a sip of vermouth. Your guide will share stories of the quarter's vibrant past along the way, pausing in the bustling Plaza Mayor to learn about the iconic square's cultural importance.

Your cultural walk ends with a visit to Sobrino de Botín. Founded in 1725, this is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the world; Goya once waited tables here to pay for art school, and it was a favorite haunt of Hemingway's that features in "The Sun Also Rises." You'll arrive before the crowds and get to experience an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, discovering the secrets of Botín's historic kitchen and wandering through its hidden wine cellars. Then, it's time to sit down to a three-course meal, dining on dishes like the renowned roasted suckling pig accompanied by Rioja wines.
