What you'll do

Your exploration of the beautiful region between Cádiz and Málaga begins with a private pick-up from your Seville accommodation in the morning. As you journey along the 1.5-hour route south, you'll experience classic Andalusian landscapes of arid mountainsides, blue skies, and stark Pueblos Blancos (White Villages) that dot the hilltops.

The first stop of the day is Grazalema, one of the region's highest mountain villages that traces its roots back to the Romans. Walk through the narrow, cobblestone streets and admire unspoiled views across the surrounding Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. Afterward, you'll continue to Zahara, another quaint village known for its hilltop Moorish castle. Here, your guide will help you pick a local spot for lunch, where you can sample a selection of the best Andalusian tapas (not included).

The next leg of your journey takes you to Ronda, located atop a gorge in the Málaga province. This historic town is renowned for its dramatic location—it straddles a deep river gorge that drops 390 feet (120 m) straight down. The gorge divides the Old and New towns, which are connected by an 18th-century triple-arched bridge. You'll have plenty of free time to explore Ronda on your own, including a visit to the Plaza de Toros, Spain's oldest bullring. At the end of the day, you'll hit the road back to Seville and part ways with your driver and guide.

Carlos was a pleasure to travel with.
The only part that I was not very thrilled with is I did not get much time in the stops and did not know about some of the sites that I could have visited (for e.g. in Ronda, I had no idea there was a castle, old town, Church, etc. that I could visit). This was a private trip which cost a lot, so I would have loved to spend more time in each of the places I visited.
Other than that the trip was nice and pleasant.

This was a long day (0800-1800) that seemed like a short day! Carlos, our guide, met us close to out hotel. Lots of discussion on the drive of things we say and Spain in general. This was a long day (0800-1800) that seemed like a short day! Carlos, our guide, met us close to out hotel. Lots of discussion on the drive of things we say and Spain in general. Drive was very scenic and Carlos pointed out cork plantations, wild goats, etc. en route. Zahara and Grazelema were beautiful towns with stunning views. We tried local specialties at each place. Ronda was crowded. We had short guided trip then a couple of hours for lunch and/or exploring more ourselves (we ate lunch looking at the famous bridge). Then long-ish drive back to Sevilla.
We were new to private guides this holiday, but the flexibility, ability to ask lots of questions, and wider context given were better than trying to do this ourselves, or in a group. We had many good days on the trip and this was probably the best day!

Tips for future travelers

If we had more time we might have tried to stay at any of these places for a couple of days. With limited time this gave us an excellent taste of them.
