What you'll do

Your Cretan adventure begins in the morning, when your private guide and driver pick you up at your Chania hotel at the arranged time. Set off in a comfortable, air-conditioned car and enjoy the views as you venture west into the rolling landscapes of the Kolymbari region. Your first stop is at an organic, family-run olive estate, where you'll learn about the innovative blend of traditional and modern practices used to harvest and press the island's famous "liquid gold." After watching the estate's massive stone presses in action, sample the finished product with a tasting of several extra virgin olive oil blends.

After a stop to see one of the world's oldest olive trees at Vouves, you'll take a deep dive into Crete's ancient winemaking heritage in the nearby village of Anoskeli. Visit a boutique winery for a stroll through the vineyards, learning about the island's distinctive terroir and climate. Hear about the winery's roots, founded in 1998 by a local family, then enjoy a tasting of five different wines that showcase the island's unique grape varietals. Accompanying each wine will be a selection of local snacks chosen to complement the flavors and notes.

Your final stop is in the charming village of Zounaki, surrounded by olive and orange groves. Here you'll discover the island's traditional brewing techniques at the region's first microbrewery. Follow your host as they lead you through the fascinating production facility, then taste four fresh beer samples straight from the tanks, including a pale ale and a rich, dark dunkel. The day winds down with a hearty lunch of traditional meze dishes on the brewery's outdoor terrace. Toast your leisurely meal with another beer, then say your goodbyes as your driver takes you on the scenic return drive to Chania.
