Pros

• Since parking in Heraklion is a major issue, the hotel’s inclusion of a free parking lot right across the street is a huge plus.
• The rooms are clean, with nice smells and pleasing design elements like wooden wardrobes and interesting light fixtures.
• The residential location gives guests the feeling of being more like a local than a tourist, while its proximity to the old center also allows people to easily explore Heraklion and its sights.

Cons

• While the hotel does offer parking, note that the street that it is in is a bit narrow, so it’s best to use its lot only if you have a smaller car or feel comfortable navigating these types of roads.
• This location doesn’t have the same type of liveliness or variety of places to eat and drink that the old city center does, so it’s a better option for those who want more peace and quiet away from the crowds.

Authenticity

You’ll find Kipos Boutique Suites about 10 minutes by foot from Heraklion’s old center, tucked away on a narrow street that’s so residential, you may think you made a wrong turn. It’s just apartments and homes all around but that’s what gives this hotel its sense of place. If you’re looking to experience an alternative Heraklion outside of what's in the guidebooks, then consider this hotel, as it gives you the chance to live like a local and dip into touristic activities as you see fit.

Location

Kipos Boutique Suites is in a residential area that’s a 10-minute walk from Lion Square. Lovers of Greek culture or books may be interested to know that the hotel is five minutes walking from the grave of Zorba the Greek author Nikos Kazantzakis. The Rocca a Mare Fortress is just 15 minutes away by foot and the Palace of Knossos is 15 minutes away by car. The immediate vicinity of the neighborhood doesn’t offer a ton of options for food and drink but guests can easily find that in the old city center 10 minutes away.

Rooms & Bathrooms

There are 12 rooms in the hotel, which range from a deluxe double room to the largest option of the executive suite, which comes with a fully equipped kitchen as well. The superior double room has a smaller kitchenette. Rooms are decorated with a mix of warm wood, marble floors, and nice accent pieces like hanging light fixtures and bold wall decorations.

The suite can sleep up to three people thanks to a sofabed, although we find these rooms to be ideal for one or two people maximum. The rooms all have outdoor spaces in the form of either a patio or balcony depending on the room type and floor. Amenities include heated towel racks, microwaves, and tea kettles and coffee machines for guests to enjoy a nice drink outside.
