Hakim ALIBOUCHE

Hello dear travelers,

My name is Hakim ALIBOUCHE, your local Travel Specialist in Morocco and your future “Dream Tour” designer.

My parents are originally from Midelt, one of the smallest towns in the Middle Atlas, known by the production of apple. I am living in Agadir, the city where I was born and grew up too, which is located on the Atlantic Ocean. With its large beaches, Agadir is considered as one of the main coastal cities in Morocco, especially for the Surfers.

Travelling is an art, it’s a way of life but most of all, it’s an achievement for every single traveler. My duty here is to assist you before, during & after your visit to my beautiful country. I will be very happy to share every single information about Morocco and of course help you design & tailor made your trip to make it "memorable".

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I am organizing tailor made tours around Morocco. The main activities are related to:

* History & Culture
* Trekking & Adventure
* Beach & Relaxation
* Sustainable Tourism "

How did you get involved in travel?

"Tourism was always one of the sectors that attract my attention a long time ago. As a first step, after my baccalaureate, I decided to involve my English skills and there was no better choice than applying to the English Studies department at the university where I had the chance to get a Bachelor's degree in Literature. Just by earning the diploma, I applied to a Specialized Institute where I decided to study Travel Agencies and Tourisme before I applied to the Higher Institute of Tourism in Tangier where I got my professional Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality & Tourism Marketing. Now, with over 4 years of experience in this field of Tourism, I could already say that it influenced me in both my personal and professional life."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"One of the experiences I'll never forget is the 2 days trekking activity I participated in in 2018 through the High Atlas Mountain and especially on its second day where I reached the Sommet. It was such a great adventure, standing at the top of the mountain near the sky and the cloud. Additionally, the night at the gite with the locals was also remarkable in my life. I'm definitely sure that I'll do this activity twice & trice in the nearest future."

The hotels we stayed in were all very interesting and charming and uniquely different. I loved the desert experience! Our hosts there were wonderful as well. I would have liked more drinkable water available in our tents and alcoholic beverages on site in our area. The camel experience was amazing! The horseback ride into the dunes with my daughter was an experience from our dreams! I would caution however, that it probably is not a trip for people with limited riding experience. A mounting block at the start and dismount areas would be very helpful and safer for the horses and humans. Our guide was very sweet and attentive even though he did not speak much English.
The brunch at the hotel/horse stable was also an amazing experience! Beautiful place, everyone was very welcoming the food was superb! The horses beautiful!
A wonderful trip that ranks very high on my list of favorite experiences!

This visit to Morocco has been one of my most memorable adventures. Morocco has everything: coasts, desert, mountains, lively cities and medinas and souks. Good food. So much to take in, and there are a few key things that made this so enjoyable.
First, the up front planning of the itinerary and assignment of Hakim to our trip was an excellent decision. It was a well balanced itinerary, and we saw so much in our 12 days in Morocco; from Casablanca, to Rabat, to Fes, to Merzouga, to Dades and ending up in Marrakech. Some days were a little busier than others, but not overwhelmingly so. Hakim was extremely responsive and flexible as we had some last minute changes. I had used Kimkim a couple of times before, but this was our first major trip with them and I convinced my daughter and friends the experience would be good. And you delivered a top notch experience. Thank You.
Secondly, it was also and excellent decision to assign Mohamed as our driver for the entire trip. He was so helpful and responsive to our needs. In a short time, we developed a nice friendship. It really made a difference towards the comfort and security of our trip. Not only is he a professional, but a genuine warm and kind human being. We thoroughly enjoyed his company.
Third, I need to again give gratitude to Hakim for his help in dealing with a luggage issue we experienced throughout our entire trip. To be clear, this was not a Kimkim issue as we booked our own airline itinerary. When two of our checked bags did not arrive to Casablanca, it started a string of phone calls and follow ups that continued throughout the trip. My bag did not show up until 3 days before departing, my spouses suitcase never did catch up with us, and has just been received here in Wisconsin today. I made a number of calls while traveling but Hakim really went above and beyond to follow up with multiple airline baggage companies to get our bags to us. Mohamed as well drove me to the airport a couple of times outside his schedule to look for and pick up my bag. Hakim tried everything he could to take the stress off of us so we could enjoy the trip without much of our clothes that we had packed. It is very much appreciated.
Fourthly, the selection of Hotels and Riads were outstanding. The Merzouga desert experience was a bucket list item realized. The mosques and medinas were fascinating, and the people of Morocco are wonderful. So kind and tolerant.

This has been one of my top ten travel experiences. I fully expect to use your services again in the future. There has already been some interest from one of my family members and if they decide to go, I will recommend they work with Hakim and Mohamed. Local guides were also very accommodating, special shoutout to Amine who gave us a guided tour of the medina in Marrakesh. He was excellent and allowed for the ladies in our group to do some last minute shopping which they very much appreciated. Well done.

With all thanks and gratitude, my appreciation to Kimkim for putting together a most memorable travel adventure.

This was such an incredible journey. It was my first time working with KimKim and I will be recommending you to anyone looking for help planning a trip where you can be immersed in the local culture.

I would like to call attention to two individuals who made a tremendous impact on our visit. Hakim, our travel agent, went above and beyond to make sure that we had a fantastic experience. The itinerary he put together for us was excellent, he tailored it to our interests and connected us with local guides who were welcoming, informative, and kind. He incorporated our feedback (as someone who typically plans her own trips, I really appreciated the opportunity to collaborate and have input- the ability to personalize definitely sets KimKim apart from the competition). I truly don't think we would have been able to make such genuine connections to the people and the culture without Hakim's expertise and thoughtful planning. He also spent a significant amount of time on the phone with various airports trying to coordinate our lost luggage. We booked our airfare on our own so this was not something he was responsible for- it just highlights his commitment to customer service. With the luggage saga and a few last-minute logistical changes we asked for, we kept Hakim very busy during our time in Morocco and he was always extremely responsive and helpful. He is a true professional and someone I would love to work with again.

Mohamad, our driver, is the second person who deserves commendations. We felt so cared for all week, I am so grateful that we had this opportunity to connect with him. Throughout the week he taught us about Moroccan history and culture, answered our questions and helped us navigate everything from finding our way through the medinas to ordering food. We could not have asked for a better partner for the week- he was prompt, patient, and attentive- and he handled our special brand of chaos very well! Getting to know him was a privilege, and I will miss driving through the countryside making jokes together.

For me, the highlights of our trip were:
1. 2 nights at Desert Luxury Camp in Erg Chebbi. It's off the beaten path (getting in and out is a 4x4 adventure!), so you feel like you're alone in your tents in the middle of the Sahara. The accommodations are very comfortable (definitely glamping), food was great, and sitting around the fire stargazing is a memory I will not soon forget. For equestrians, horseback riding through the dunes with Sahara Horses is an unmissable activity. Absolute magic.

2. Tinghir visit to the Berber women's co-op. Carpets are for sale all over Morocco, but going to the source to meet with the women who make them was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. I came home with a beautiful rug that will be an heirloom piece, and I am glad I was able to directly support the artisans.

3. Food tour of Marrakech. We were lucky enough to have our guide (Amine) for both our food tour and our walking tour of the city the next day, it was a true pleasure discovering the magic of Marrakech with him! His passion for sharing his city with others made this one of my favorite stops. Marrakech is vibrant (and delicious), and Amine let us discover at our own pace - his flexibility and attentiveness are the mark of a true professional.

4. Accommodations throughout the trip were incredible, Hakim did an amazing job selecting them for us. La Maison Arabe and Riad Laaroussa are two of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. This trip has proved to me that Moroccan hospitality is some of the best in the world, and these two riads provided the most welcoming and attentive service throughout our stay. The staff were exceptional, the properties were gorgeous, and I will be dreaming about the beauty of the courtyards and rooftops at these two riads for years to come.

5. Sunday Brunch at Selman Stables. For lovers of horses (or just luxury), this is a must-do. The Selman property is stunning, and the brunch spread was out of this world.

6. Guided tour in Fes. Our guide Azdin (not sure on spelling) was another gem. He was a wealth of knowledge and spent extra time with us because we had so many questions and wanted to explore all our stops. I felt like I really got to know Fes (although I can tell you we would not have figured out the maze of the medina without him!).

There is very little I would change about our trip, except to have more time! If we had been able to extend our trip by an extra day or two it would have broken up the driving a bit and given us more time to shop in the medinas. We ended up cutting our Marrakech tour short so we could explore the shops and I'd recommend that others build time in specifically for this- Moroccan souks are distinctly unique and I expect almost any visitor will want the experience of negotiating over handmade wares unlike anything you can buy at home.

Thank you Hakim, Mohamad, and KimKim for an incredible trip!

Stunning hotel in the middle of the Fes medina. I'm very grateful for the porters and their carts who navigated the maze that is Fes with our luggage! This riad has so much character- we stayed in the grey room and it took my breath away when we opened the door the first time. There's a fireplace in our room! I almost with our itinerary hadn't been so packed so we could have spent more time lounging here. The rooftop bar and restaurant was our favorite place to end the night after a long day of sight seeing. The staff were exemplary. I would love to visit again (but might wait until the elevator they're planning to install is complete- since the building is quite old the stairs are plentiful and not all the same size, which can be challenging to navigate).

A stay like no other- Desert Luxury camp exceeded my expectations. You take an adventurous 10 minute 4x4 ride to get to a secluded spot in the middle of the Sahara. With almost 0 light pollution, it's an incredible place to stargaze. The food was excellent, staff superb, and the location is rugged and beautiful. Stay at least 2 nights, you won't want to leave.

I wish we had more time to spend in Marrakech just so we could have spent more time lounging around this property. Our room was spacious and luxurious with a courtyard facing balcony. The food was incredible, the dinner we ate here was my favorite meal over our stay in Morocco- enhanced by the beauty of the courtyard and the live music playing each night. The jazz bar is cozy, the rooftop bar serene, the hammam/spa luxurious and relaxing. Take me back!

Azdin was an excellent guide and a wealth of knowledge. We learned a ton about Fes and Moroccan culture, and we covered a LOT of ground. Just walking the maze of streets in the medina was an experience unlike any other- I am very glad we had a guide to help us navigate the cramped alleys. While riding the dunes was definitely the best part, it was also very cool to ride through the town of Merzouga, and when we reached the lake after a 3km ride through a rocky plain, there was a little mobile cafe oasis for us where we ate a huge picnic spread. A long drive, but I would not have skipped it (the time in the Sahara is absolutely worth it)! Tinghir was the perfect place to stop and stretch our legs for a few minutes on the walk through the gorge. The highlight of this day was definitely visiting the Berber women's co-op in Tinghir, where we got to meet the women and watch them weave the famous Moroccan carpets (and buy one to bring home!). We spent a little too much time here (who can blame me? I wanted to see all the rugs!), and had to cut our hike short in the Todra gorge short, but we still had a chance to walk through the fields in the valley and get up close to the Monkey Fingers rock formation before walking through the village back to our bus.

It was my first time experiencing a hammam- the staff at La Maison Arabe were fantastic, ensuring we were comfortable throughout. It was both very relaxing and very vigorous (you will be very clean by the time you are done). The spa area is beautiful, and the massage was a much-needed release after all the walking we did on this trip.

The perfect activity to end our trip! My mom and I separated from the rest of the group for a girls day at Selman, and I am so glad we did. Relaxing in the sun at Le Pavilion while beautiful Arabian horses pranced past was a true highlight for me, and it was nice to end our incredible trip with something slow and luxurious. The brunch spread was out of this world- extremely high quality food with a multitude of options, from sushi to grilled lobster tails, tagine to more salads than I had room to try. And the dessert buffet! Outstanding food and service throughout. While we ate, we were treated to a demonstration of masterful horsemanship, and had the opportunity to see the majesty of two of Selman's beautiful Arabian stallions. Service at the Selman was outstanding as well, it's clear that they provide a 5 star experience for their guests.

Our driver for the entire trip, Hicham, was kind, on-time(!!), helpful, and easy to talk to. We especially enjoyed his insights into daily life in Morocco, and our visit to his hometown! What a special and memorable experience. Thank you Hicham! We hope to see you again someday!

We enjoyed all of our accommodations very much. Our absolute favorites were Caravane in Ait Ben Haddou (SO beautifully designed and decorated!) and Riad Dar Sara in Marrakesh (again, so relaxing, so cute and beautifully done.) Our least favorite was Perle De La Medina in Fes. The room was large with high ceilings and had all tile and no rugs, which, although it was very spacious, led to it feeling cold/echo-y and not cozy. Also at that same hotel had a negative experience with a porter aggressively asking for extra tip. Otherwise, we really loved all of our accommodations and we commend Kimkim for choosing such reputable places.

All of our walking tour guides were absolutely fabulous. They were knowledgable, friendly, had strong English skills, and took the time to answers our questions thoughtfully. We want to give a special shout-out to Amine in Marrakesh. We thought he went above and beyond, engaging us in meaningful discussion about cultural differences which we appreciated so much.

Timing-wise, everything mostly went very well, given that timing is more flexible in Morocco than we may be used to in the US (and because sunrise times are so late there.) Because we sometimes took longer to drive from place to place than expected, the walking tours often started 1-2+ hours after they were stated to on the original trip plan. We appreciated the walking tour guides' flexibility in working with our arrival time. The only timing mishap occurred on day 5 when we drove from Merzouga to Ait Ben Haddou. We arrived at our hotel only 30 minutes before sunset, and we didn't understand that the hotel would be a 15-20 minute walk to Ait Ben Haddou over some somewhat dificult muddy/unpaved terrain. We had to rush, running to make it to Ait Ben Haddou to photograph and explore for at least a few minutes before sunset. We would have appreciated arriving at Ait Ben Haddou at least an hour earlier so that we could have had more time to explore. (Though, this was partially our fault for not communicating this well enough with our driver.)

Morocco is so incredibly diverse and beautiful and we are so glad we entrusted Kimkim with our travel planning experience. We very much enjoyed the experience of a private tour (just my husband and I) and we are glad that Kimkim was able to craft the perfect trip for us in the time that we had. We wouldn't change anything on our itinerary!

Simple, clean, well-located close to Hassan II Mosque. Looks like a business hotel--not traditionally-designed like the other hotels. Our room had a burn mark on the rug. Breakfast was great. Was the only hotel we stayed at that did not come with water bottle(s.)

SO BEAUTIFUL. So beautifully designed. So much attention to detail. I especially loved the zellige tiles in the bathroom.

Authenticity & Character
Although I truly appreciate the aforementioned beautifulness, also sometimes the decorations are generically "African" and not really specific to Morocco.
Location
Not far from Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, but be prepared that the walk there is about half on the paved road and half on unpaved, sometimes-muddy path that isn't always clear. It borders a stream and ascends and descends a bit. It took us about 10-15 minutes while rushing, so maybe 20 minutes if not rushing.
Staff
The staff are 9000% amazing at this hotel. Kind, attentive, friendly, really go the extra mile.

Like some of the our other riads, it seems like this riad was made out of a historic house. This one has everything updated so that it retains its beautiful character but looks new at the same time. Authentic, beautifully-decorated. Breakfast is on a top-floor terrace which is beautiful and nice. In particular, we paid one porter 20 dirhams for carrying our backpacks for 1 minute (which we easily could have done ourselves but he took them before we had the chance to decline) and after paying him, he asked for more. The accommodations were excellent. We really enjoyed the location and character of the riads. In particular, we really enjoyed the staff at Riad El Yacout in Fes.
All of our tour guides were great. We felt like there was a lot of value in the information we got from them...great perspective on history and culture that we would otherwise not have gotten. We considered eliminating some of the private tours when we were developing the itinerary/trip cost...but in retrospect we would recommend that they be included. In particular we appreciated interactions with our guide in Fes (Reda) and food tour guide (Hanyn). We also enjoyed our guides in Merrakech and Imlil. One suggestion would be to utilize more female tour guides. Our female guides in Rabat and Meknes provided some cultural insights that Americans would probably find particularly valuable.
One recommendation we would make to others developing itineraries would be to include a second night in the Sahara. It is a long trip to get there.

Dear Paul,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review!

It’s truly heartwarming to hear how much you enjoyed your experience, and I’m glad that Hemedi made such a positive impact on your trip. We usually make sure our travelers enjoy the best company with our drivers. I’ll be sure to share your kind words with him!

I’m also glad that the accommodations, especially Riad El Yacout, and the tour guides added so much value to your journey. It’s wonderful to hear that you found the private tours worth keeping, there’s something special about diving deep into the history and culture with a knowledgeable guide by your side. I’ll make sure to pass along your praise to Reda and Hanyn, as well as your other guides in Marrakech and Imlil.

Your suggestion about incorporating more female tour guides is greatly appreciated. You’re absolutely right that they can offer unique cultural insights, and I’ll certainly take that into account when planning for future travelers.

And I completely agree, the Sahara is such a magical experience, and having an extra night there allows for a more relaxed and immersive stay depending our travelers' total duration. Your feedback will be incredibly helpful to others considering a similar itinerary.

It was a pleasure being part of your journey, and I truly appreciate your recommendation. If you ever decide to return to Morocco, I’d love to help create another unforgettable adventure for you!

Warm regards,
Hakim

We had a wonderful trip that exceeded our expectations. The pre trip preparations with Hakim were easy and he was very flexible in tailoring the trip to our schedule and our interests. I felt like together we came up with a good plan and it was well executed. Success in sports is a combination of planning and talent and the same can be said about our experience this past week. It was a successful trip because it was well planned with talented individuals helping us along the way.
That had to start with our driver Hakim. He could not have been more accommodating, personable, and good company for the week. Additionally he was an excellent driver and made sure we were well taken care of and the schedule we set was followed precisely. He was always early, always available, and we always felt we were in good hands knowing he was there.
The local guides were all very knowledgeable and pleasant and I felt we came away from each day with a better understanding of the history and culture everywhere we stopped. Our guides in Rabat and Marrakech should be singled out as theywere both not only informative but also fun to be with. We had a hand in setting the schedule and if I were to do it again I would change the morning tour of Casablanca and not have toured the Jewish sites. They were interesting but I felt in retrospect we should have devoted the limited time we had in Casablanca to seeing something else. That was on us for wanting some type of Jewish experience, but we got that in Marrakech and my suggestion would be if you have other clients with limited time looking to tour Jewish sites, steer them to Marrakech.
The extras like the balloon ride, the cooking class and hammam were all terrific also and again well organized. This was at or near the top of the list for best vacations we’ve been on. Thanks for your help in making it happen.

I planned my trip to Morocco with the assistance of Hakim.  I found his help somewhat useful, but also sometimes not so useful.  In particular, he would (it seemed) cut and paste information and ideas about what to do for each place without actually considering things like drive time or daylight hours, and not until I enquired more closely about what I could actually do and how that would work would I discover that I couldn't do all the things I wanted on particular days.  For example, the trip started with me being picked up at the airport, and then "a self-guided tour of Rabat", which is described in four paragraphs of interesting detail.  However, given that my flight was only arriving in Casablanca at 16:00 (which he knew), and that the drive to Rabat takes at least 1.5 hours (and more at that time of day), that means that I wouldn't arrive in Rabat until at least 6pm, leaving just about all of that moot.

Hakim also did not warn me that visiting the Medina of Fes on a Friday was practically useless - everything was closed.  I might have chosen to visit there that day anyway, but it would have been good to know beforehand - and I wouldn't have chosen to book a guide for so long.  I also found the day descriptions confusing.  For example, for Fes I had "a private tour for 6 hours" and"Pottery & Mosaïc workshop" but it wasn't clear to me if (1) the guide was supposed to be with me for six hours separately from the workshop or (2) the guide was supposed to accompany me to the workshop for part of those six hours.  Also, the description of the workshop was very different from what actually happened there.

I see (now) that in the notes for the desert camp experience it says "You are being welcomed to get the necessary instructions to make sure any of your questions are answered and be ready by having your nomad scarf prepared over your head by one of the experienced staff. Trust me, it’s already a big challenge to do it on your own so make sure you ask one of the staff to help you!"  There was no nomad scarf.  I'm still not sure whether I was supposed to have brought one or they were supposed to have one for me.  For the nomad family visit the notes say "Your first break will be with a local nomadic family that calls the dunes home. Enjoy a cup of traditional tea and listen to their stories."  There was no talking with them, although they did serve me tea.

I did contact Hakim during the trip to arrange/change certain things, and that did seem to work out, but it felt almost like a game of telephone where I would contact him, then he would contact Orion Trek directly.

Thankfully, my driver for the trip, Hicham, was incredible, and was able to resolve almost all the issues and questions and help me throughout the journey.   He was also super friendly, and went out of his way to find me delicious food that was not on the typical itinerary.  I would definitely be happy to ride with him again.

I found most of the guides that I had to be adequate but not great, until Marrakech; Amine, who I had both for a six-hour city tour in Marrakech and then a food tour was fantastic and I would recommend him to anyone as a guide.

The hammam in Marrakech that they arranged for me to visit (Les Bains de L'Alhambra) I would not recommend at all.  It was like being at a factory, and additionally all the rooms were cold so I was shivering a lot of the time.   Nobody cared.

Dear Deborah,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent trip to Morocco, and I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.

First of all, I would like to say that every response was personalized based on your request. Copy and paste happens only when travelers ask FAQs such as questions about the local currency, dress code, etc… Other than that, all the answers are personalized based on your special questions and requests.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the itinerary's timing and logistics. I believe and unless I'm mistaken, it was mentioned during our Zoom discussion that the time to explore Rabat on your arrival day depends on the flight you’ll secure. Moving forward, I will ensure to provide more realistic schedules that align with travel logistics, including travel times and local customs like Friday closures in Fes. We generally avoid guided visits in Fes during Fridays, except for travelers with short travel duration and stay in Fes, which leads to including visits even on this day. And that was your case.

For the desert camp experience specifically, I regret the oversight with the nomad scarf. Typically, scarves are provided, and I apologize for any misunderstanding or inconvenience caused by this omission.

I'm glad to hear that you found Hicham, your driver, to be incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout your journey. I will pass on your commendation to him and ensure that such positive feedback is shared with our team.

Your comments about the guides and experiences in Marrakech and the hammam experience are noted. I will review these aspects to ensure that future travelers receive excellent service and memorable experiences.

Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. We’re all committed to improving our services based on all our trusted travelers’ valuable comments to ensure that future trips exceed expectations. If there are any further details you'd like to discuss or if you have additional feedback, please feel free to reach out.

The main guy worked so hard to keep everyone happy I was concerned the owner of the hotel was keeping his children hostage or something.
Cleanliness & Comfort
It's beautiful and spacious but maybe needs a spruce up in the rooms. Doesn't have an alcohol licence!

I didn't really want to do this but we enjoyed it a lot. Mostly because of the personality of the teacher, Souad. Without her, it would probably have been pretty average.

Souad has a really engaging personality. She was really fun and made the experience what it was.

It's a very long way. We were exhausted and we weren't the ones driving. Felt pretty sorry for Hicham.

Doesn't really need a guide. Also, the guide was okay, but largely just pointed at things and described what they were. E.g. "camel"! Slightly strangely, two random people got added to our tour. Didn't particularly mind but it was a little odd.

There's not much to see.

Hey Owen, Thank you for your honest and thoughtful review! We’re so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time with our driver, Hicham. I agree he's truly a gem; one of our best drivers! It’s also wonderful that the cooking class with Souad turned out to be a pleasant surprise, even though it wasn’t something you initially wanted to do. We appreciate your note about the dry Riad on New Year’s Eve; that’s a great point, and we’ll make sure to provide clearer information in the future to help set expectations. And yes, Chefchaouen can be enjoyed in a couple of hours only; 2 hours with a guide is usually sufficient to explore the city's main highlights. It’s great to hear our advice worked for you!

Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope to assist with more adventures in the future!

Best,
Hakim

Our experience in Morocco was exceptional. Hakim did an amazing job finding us the right hotels and sites to visit. His driver/guide was so flexible and helpful throughout the trip, finding the right stops along the long drive. Everything was perfect - one more time kuddos to Kimkim and the local travel agency!
