How Many Days to Spend in England

England is an endless pageant of stunning landscapes, quaint villages, and vibrant cities teeming with fascinating historical and cultural sites. Even in as few as four or five days, you can see many of its most famous sights. However, plan for a two-week or more extended visit, and you can take in several of the country's distinct regions and cultural activities.

Best Time of Year to Visit England

Each season uniquely showcases England's sublime beauty. Spring is bloomin' lovely as apple blossoms, bluebells, and tulips burst forth, and the grass is impossibly green after winter snow and rains. Long summer days can be gloriously sunny—perfect for a beach holiday or a vacation spent rambling (hiking). Autumn is a blaze of color as leaves turn red, orange, and yellow, while no country feels quite so festive during Christmas, with occasional wintry snows lending a special romance.

Hotel Reviews
The Grafton Arms Pub & Rooms
London

We only stayed one night. Hostess was fabulous in that she checked us right in, which allowed us to take a much needed nap after flying through the night. The room was clean, well appointed. Only issue is that building is very old with steep stairs and any older person with ortho issues may not find it feasible. Notably, the hostess lugged my 35 lb suitcase up the stairs like it was a pillow.

this inn is wonderful. the breakfast was delicious. the room was spacious, lovely, view of castle and roof tops. I would not want to stay in this room in warm weather as it is on 3rd floor and no A/C. The gulls were loud on the roof tops and their screams were actually welcome. the area was so beautiful, we wanted to get up early and get going. old building with steep stairs not good for anyone with joint issues. the staff was lovely, friendly, helpful. the restaurant (chapel area for breakfast) amazing with organ, lovely wood, everything just beautiful. very convenient to train station.

Lovely inn. Great breakfast A bit on the periphery of Bath Center but as a result, very quiet. Adrian, host, was very helpful and gave suggestions including walking tour which was fabulous. Room was basic. Overlooked back which was really no view at all. Room was clean and comfortable, we heard owls.

Minster Walk Guest House
York

Location was great. Walkable to pretty much everything-- Cathedral, Shambles, Jorvik museum, gardens. The living area was very old and comfortable The pub next door was great and friendly. The staff/host also very kindly and friendly. Breakfast was good. My only issue was the tight quarters of our room. The room was clean, old, bed very comfy...just a bit tight and difficult to move around. would I take a bigger room and give up the location? No.

this tour was very nice the tour guide very knowledgable lovely views my only suggestion is that the driving be decreased and the tour stops longer than 20 minutes. I would have loved to spend more time in Grassington. I could have done without the Wallace and Grommet cheese place

My husband and I are new to using a travel agent. We are used to doing it by ourselves, but we are getting older. Alexandra was very helpful and flexible throughout the entire process and helped us maneuver when we added our daughter to the trip. I would’ve preferred a little bit more transparency about the breakdown in cost. What was your commission rate? Is breakfast always included? Are the tips included or not? Didn’t want to double pay. It’s hard to optimize the price of the trip not knowing where you can improve on pricing. Having used KimKim for the first time, I’ll probably have better questions next time.

Dillon was our tour guide in the Cotswold’s However he was from Wales and I would’ve preferred more local information and history. He was more or less a driver for us for the day as opposed to a guide. He wanted to accommodate us where we wanted to go, but in a lot of cases, we didn’t know where to go.

Alex was very timely in all our transports. We were going to use him on our last free day to give him the business but he said it was going to be $60 an hour for his services plus waiting and an Uber we found out and used was $14. Could that have been an option for us through our entire trip?

The hotels were just as I asked for. Thank you.

He was a bit of a curmudgeon. Maybe he did this tour too many times and he was over it. The tour was not 2 1/2 hours but two hours. He wanted to stick completely to the Bridgerton highlights and no other questions were welcome. He didn’t seem too happy when he was touring us around
