Best of Dingle Town

Set on a verdant peninsula, the small town of Dingle has a waterfront setting and winding lanes dotted with brightly painted shops and restaurants. The huge natural harbor contains a busy fishing port, which contributes to the town’s reputation for its excellent seafood. Dingle has a creative bohemian side, with works by regional artists and artisans featured in its tiny craft shops, and the winding lanes filling with the sound of traditional music come sundown. 

You can’t leave Dingle without getting out on the water. Harbor cruises offer surprising vantage points of the town’s landmarks, and views of Valentia Island, plus the chance to spot sea birds, dolphins and other marine life. For something more active, you can take a SUP excursion or go for a high-speed RIB boat trip out to former pirate coves and nearby islands. Less than an hour’s drive from Dingle, you can go for a hike in Glanteenassig, a natural wonderland of mountains, woodlands, lakes and waterfalls. Dingle lies near some scenic coastal drives, particularly the road to Slea Head, which hugs the shore en route to mainland Ireland’s westernmost point.
