Greece | May 1 - May 11, 2023

The Aquila Atlantis Hotel exceeded our expectations. After staying in Airbnbs in Athens and Crete, this hotel was a pleasant surprise. The quality of the hotel was superb - the room was extremely nice and the bar and food downstairs were great. The hotel was in a terrific area of Heraklion, allowing us to explore the city easily. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast was appreciated before catching our ferry.

The Avra Hotel Rafina was a good, solid hotel, although not as nice as the Aquila Atlantis Hotel. Chris chose this location to provide a nice shopping area on our last day in Greece, but we found it was too early in the season for many of the markets to be open. However, the hotel was in a perfect location by the shore and beach. The hotel itself was nice, but I would recommend booking it only during a busier tourist season when the surrounding area has more to offer.

Our tour guide Vicki was fantastic, providing us with rich stories about the Acropolis and the history of Athens. The experience was informative, engaging, and fun. She went beyond just reading from a script and made us feel much smarter about the history of Greece.

Alexei, our tour guide in Crete, did an exceptional job of showing us around the area. Even though our original plans for a hike were canceled due to weather, he arranged for us to visit a winery, an olive oil plant, and a couple of monasteries. He was very customer-friendly, engaging, and provided a local flavor to the experience.

The Santorini tour was amazing and one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. The breathtaking views were to be found all over the island. We learned a lot about the history and excavations of the island and enjoyed the beautiful towns, people, and food. Some of us went for a hike across the island and my daughter and I went for massages at a place nearby our accommodations. Our tour guide did an excellent job, providing us with a great feel for the island.
