Fantastic Hiking in Slovenia

This was a fantastic trip....best parts of the trip were our hiking excursions throughout the Julian Alps, particularly in Bovec and Bohinj (by far our two favorite locations!). The recommendations provided by Marija were spot on, including hiking routes and wine excursions!

Rustic boutique hotel with a fantastic location and tremendous management/staff. The breakfast in the morning is a visual feast for the eyes and stomach. The staff could not be any more helpful, generous and friendly! Though there are few "amenities", the aesthetic setting and ideal location for hiking trumps any concerns one might have on more amenities.
While the spa is amazing, the rooms are small, dated and the bathroom had several fixtures that needed to be repaired/weren't functioning properly. The spa (which seems very new) compensates for the "dated", small rooms. Also, location is pretty isolated...we made the best of it by enjoying some nearby hikes, but otherwise, I wouldn't go back to this hotel.
Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location....everything about the hotel was superb (room/bathroom/amenities and onsite MIchelin Restaurant!)

Fantastic experience going on a jeep and exploring the "back" roads of the vineyards, weaving our way through the various borders b/w Italy & Slovenia and learning the history of the area and its ability to sustain itself through wars, Covid and political upheavals. We thoroughly enjoyed the personal experience of meeting a 4th generation vintner and his family, tasting their wines, and enjoying their homemade prociutto, salami's, cheese, honey and of course...wine!
Thoroughly enjoyed the bread-baking experience and the bee-keeper/honey tasting, but I think this would be better without the "local lunch", as it makes for a long day and really doesn't "add" to the experience.
