The Moskene ferry ride was comfortable,, and the approach was very scenic. Our first stop was in Reine and it is even prettier than all the pictures we have seen. We stayed at the Eliasson Robauer which was scenic and ate at the restaurant there, the Gadus. I would recommend getting reservations if eating there. It was very good, especially the fish. The next day we drove to Svolvaer. We stopped at the blacksmith shop in Sund, and although off season in October we were able to get in. The owner was informative and entertaining and we bought a cormorant statue he made. In Svolvaer we went on the Trollfjord cruise. It was foggy and overcast an gave the surrounding mountains a magical feeling. We enjoyed going into the fjord. The highlight of our trip was hanging with the Huskies outside Tromso. The dogs were all friendly and playful. The bacalao soup was tasty and the clouds opened up just enough to see the Northern Lights. While there we experienced the first snow of the year. The next day we went to the Polar Museum. It was fabulous, definitely recommended. After that we ate at Skirri. Fresh fried cod as well as fresh sushi from the Japanese restaurant next door were the best. On our last night we went on the Aurora cruise. It was very peaceful, but cloudy and not much of a view, other than darkness and lights on the shore. The food was gourmet style, unusual foods and small portions, not our thing. Overall a great trip, not a single problem. Thank you Fenne and Mar!
Hotel Reviews
Our original room was in a red cottage. No view and in from the water. They had an upgrade available, a small home with a beautiful view across the water to the town. Very clean, and lots of room!Very happy with the accomodations.
My stay at Scandic Ishavs was good. The room was nice and the food was good. There was a nice bar next door and the location was good for the last night of my trip.
Activity Reviews
This was a beautiful experience. The weather was a bit foggy but it added a kind of charm to the whole experience. The staff was amazing and very friendly. Overall, it was a great time.
This was an amazing experience. The dogs were great, the staff was friendly and the food was good. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights as the clouds broke just enough.
I wouldn't recommend this activity. The food wasn't to my taste and it was a dark, cloudy night so there wasn't much to see outside.
