Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Lanzarote!
Welcome to Lanzarote! The island is one of the seven main Canary Islands, a chain of Spanish islands off the Northwest coast of Africa. Meet your tour representative at the airport, then transfer to your hotel in Arrecife.
You'll have some free time in the afternoon to explore. Explore the neighborhood and check out the many restaurants, cafes, and tapas bars around your centrally-located hotel. If you're in the mood for some sun, grab a towel and head to El Reducto Beach, across the street from the cafes and restaurants.
In the evening meet your guide in the hotel to ask any questions you may have remaining about the itinerary.
Chat with a local specialist who can help organize your trip.
Day 2: Go Inside the Volcanoes
Start the morning with a pickup from your hotel, then head to Parque Natural de Los Volcanes and the Timanfaya National Park for a day in the incredible desert landscapes of the volcanic parks. The island is home to over 300 volcanoes whose ancient eruptions formed the landscapes. Travel through history back to a time when the volcanoes were active as you travel to the parks and learn about the local geology.
Today's fully guided hike in the parks is 5 hours long and is approximately 7.5 miles (12 km) long. Stop in the middle at a particularly scenic viewpoint to enjoy a picnic of local products, including goat cheese, cold meats, olive oil, avocadoes, and exotic fruit.
Return back to your hotel in Arrecife in the late afternoon. Please note that the National Park entrance fee (10,00€) is not included.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 3: The Marvelous North
You'll be picked up in the morning for another full day of exploration. Today you'll visit the north side of the island, an incredible mosaic of contrasting landscapes that were shaped by the La Corona Volcano. As you drive north you'll notice a sudden change in the colors and shapes of the landscape, which makes it feel like a different place.
Your guided hike today starts with an ascent to reach the La Corona crater. Stop here to enjoy panoramic views of the coast and enormous lava floor from the volcano eruptions.
The hike continues to the Cliffs of Famara, the highest point on the island. From up here, you'll have a perfect view of the Chinijo Archipelago and beautiful La Graciosa, the 8th island in the Canary archipelago. The full hike won't take more than 5 hours and is 8 miles (13 km) long. Pause in the middle for a picnic lunch of fresh local goodies, then finish the hike in the village of Haria. Stop here to rest and enjoy a coffee before continuing the visit.
Your next stop is Jameos del Agua, a series of volcanic lava caves created and decorated by local architect and artist Cesar Manrique. The caves are a living art installation and operate primarily as a cultural and tourist attraction. The artist's work can be found all over the island, and his architecture has given as much shape to Lanzarote as the volcanoes did.
Please note that the entrance fee of Jameos del Agua (9,50€) is not included.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 4: End of Trip
Today is your last day in Lanzarote. Transfer to the airport, then connect to your flight home. If you choose to stay longer and extend your day, your guides will be happy to offer suggestions and help you organize your next adventure.
Safe travels!
