Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Manila - Overnight to Banaue
Welcome to the Philippines. Transfer from the Manila airport to your evening bus and get some shut-eye as you travel north through winding mountain roads to your destination. In the morning you will be in Banaue, home of the famous Banaue Rice Terraces.
Day 2: Explore Banaue and Bontoc - Travel to Maligcong
Though you're not in uncharted territory yet, you can still enjoy the views of the Banaue Rice Terraces as you make your way to Bontoc to visit a museum on the people of the Cordillera. Step back in time as you learn how the indigenous people lived for centuries. In the afternoon, you will continue north to Maligcong to begin your exploration into the unknown.
Chat with a local specialist who can help organize your trip.
Day 3: Sunrise breakfast - Hike in Maligcong
Today you will rise early to hike up a mountain ridge to catch a magnificent sunrise. The ridge overlooks a valley that traps moisture, producing a sea of clouds, through which you will watch the sunrise. Enjoy breakfast with a view, before spending the rest of the morning hiking through mountains, rice terraces, and small remote villages. In the afternoon, you will travel further north to Sadanga, venturing into more remote areas.
Day 4: Sadanga waterfall hike - Remote village visit
Today you will hike to a stunning waterfall as well as visit three isolated villages that sit within the mountainous landscape and rice terraces. Because few outsiders have been to some of these remote locations, and visitors are considered novel, expect sudden home invitations and other welcoming delays.
Day 5: Explore Hapao and its rice terraces - Overnight to Manila
Today you will return to Banaue and carry on southwest to the village of Hapao. Believed to have the oldest rice terraces in the country, Hapao offers panoramic views of lush vegetation. Hike through the terraces and villages to make your way to a hot spring where you can soak your weary muscles. In the evening, board an overnight bus for your return journey back to Manila.
Day 6: Depart from Manila
Arrive back in Manila in the early morning. Depending on your departure details, you may wish to explore more of the capital city before catching your flight home.
