Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok, Explore the Capital at Leisure

Rent a paddleboat and discover the tranquil Lumpini Park

Welcome to the vibrant capital of Thailand, Bangkok! Meet your driver at the airport and transfer to your hotel to check in. Stay in and relax, or venture out to explore the city on your own. A good place to start is the Bangkok National Museum, housed in the former Wang Na Palace. Peruse the extensive collection of artifacts that span centuries, including intricate sculptures, traditional costumes, and royal regalia. Be sure to see the impressive collection of Khmer artifacts, including the royal chariots that were used in ceremonial processions.

Continue to Lumpini Park for a leisurely walk among the beautifully landscaped gardens and tranquil lakes. If you're feet are tired, rent a paddleboat instead to discover the park from the water. As darkness starts to fall, make your way to Khao San Road, a lively street filled with street vendors, quirky shops, and bustling bars. Indulge in local delights like som tam (a spicy and tangy papaya salad) or mango sticky rice (a Thai dessert made with sweet sticky rice, fresh mango slices, and a drizzle of coconut milk). If you're feeling brave, you can also find plenty of fried insects here to end your first night in Thailand.

Day 2: Visit Wat Phra Kaew, the Grand Palace & Wat Pho, Manohra Dinner Cruise

Get a close-up look at the 150-foot-long reclining Buddha in Wat Pho

Join your guide on a four-hour tour of the city, starting at Wat Phra Kaew, better known as the "Temple of the Emerald Buddha" for its iconic Buddha statue carved from a single piece of jade. Other highlights of the site include the Ramakien murals lining the walls, the main ordination hall with its gilded exterior, and an ornate library. Continue to the nearby Grand Palace, the official residence of the country's kings from 1782 until 1925 CE. Today, the palace is primarily used for ceremonial and state functions. Wander through the sprawling complex to see the intricately designed buildings, pavilions, and courtyards.

Then, head to your last stop, Wat Pho, to admire the impressive 150-foot-long (46 m) reclining Buddha statue covered in gold leaf. The complex is also home to one of the country's first Thai massage schools, where you can experience the ancient healing tradition firsthand. Return to your hotel to get ready for a two-hour Manohra dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River. Depart at 7:30 pm, gliding up the river past illuminated landmarks like Wat Arun and the Grand Palace. Enjoy an authentic Thai dinner before docking at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort's pier and transferring back to your hotel.

Day 3: Bang Krachao Bicycle Tour, Evening Street Food Tour by Tuk-Tuk

Discover why Bang Krachao is called Bangkok's "Green Lung" on a bicycle tour

Leave the bustling city streets behind for the morning as you head to Bang Krachao, a man-made island known as Bangkok's "Green Lung." Hop on a bicycle to explore the verdant oasis and follow your guide through lush mangrove forests, serene parks, and traditional Thai communities. Enjoy views of the area's vibrant flora and fauna, including exotic birds and butterflies. If you're visiting on a weekend, stop at the Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market to try local delights, like pad thai. Try not to fill up too much, as you'll spend your evening on a street food tour by tuk-tuk.

When darkness falls, meet your tuk-tuk guide and head to Yaowarat, one of the oldest and largest Chinatowns in the world. Sample delicious Chinese street food like roasted meats and delectable dim sum before continuing to Pak Khlong Talat, a 24-hour flower market. Pick up some colorful blooms or peruse the selection of fresh produce, herbs, and spices. Then, return to the tuk-tuk to navigate the city's small alleys and historic roads. Pass iconic temples like Wat Pho, Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan, and Wat Benchamabophit as you head to a rooftop bar to end the night with drinks overlooking the city.

Day 4: Transfer to Kanchanaburi via Two Iconic Markets

Buy local delights or fresh produce from a boat at the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Say goodbye to Bangkok this morning as you transfer one hour to the Mae Klong Railway Market, famous for its proximity to an active railway line. As the train approaches, vendors swiftly pull back their awnings and goods from the tracks. Once it's gone, the market returns to normal until the next train passes through. Watch this awe-inspiring sight, then peruse the stalls filled with fresh produce, seafood, and local snacks. Then, transfer 20 minutes to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, where goods are bought and sold almost entirely on the water.

Board a piroque (traditional wooden boat) and glide along the narrow canals lined with floating stalls, each offering an array of fresh produce, exotic fruits, and traditional Thai snacks. Watch the vendors skillfully maneuver their boats, expertly balancing their goods and engaging with customers. If you want to buy something, try your hand at haggling like the locals for a better price. Then, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before transferring three hours to Phutakien Pier. From here, you'll set off on a 20-minute boat ride to the Float House River Kwai, a luxurious floating resort on the River Khwae, to check in.

Day 5: Guided Hike in Erawan National Park

Climb to the different tiers of Erawan Falls within the national park

Lace up your hiking boots and follow your guide into Erawan National Park, known for its seven-tiered waterfall, impressive caves, and diverse wildlife. Venture down the well-maintained trails through the rainforest, stopping at the different tiers of Erawan Falls. Each tier has its own tranquil emerald pool, perfect for a refreshing swim in the cool waters. As you ascend, you'll get better views of the cascading waters and surrounding greenery. When you reach the top of the falls, look out at the park and celebrate your accomplishment with a dip in the natural pool.

After five hours in the park, enjoy a much-deserved lunch at a local restaurant, then return to your floating resort to enjoy its amenities. Jump into the river straight from your floating villa, book a massage at the on-site spa, or borrow a bike to explore the scenic trails surrounded by mountainous green forests. Return to the resort in time for sunset to watch the natural spectacle from the floating restaurant and bar. Indulge in delicious Thai or international cuisine paired with a sparkling cocktail or chilled beer while darkness falls around you and stars appear in the sky uninterrupted by city lights.

Day 6: Transfer to Bangkok, Fly to Phuket, Enjoy a Free Afternoon

Soak up the sun on one of Phuket's pristine beaches, like Patong Beach

Bid farewell to your floating villa and the River Khwae as you check out and board a boat back to Phutakien Pier. Meet your driver there for a four-hour transfer back to Bangkok, where you'll catch a 1.5-hour flight to Phuket, Thailand's largest island. Located on the Andaman Sea, Phuket is renowned for its picturesque beaches, tropical climate, and lively nightlife. When you arrive, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace. You could relax at the hotel or venture out to Patong Beach on the western coast, known for its clear blue waters and fine golden sand.

Hang out on the sand, go for a refreshing swim, or partake in water sports like jet skiing, parasailing, wakeboarding, or kayaking. Stay until sunset to watch the sky transform into vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple. When darkness falls, make your way to one of the beachfront restaurants or bars for a Thai or international dinner overlooking the water. If you want to experience the island's nightlife, head to Bangla Road, known for its bustling atmosphere, numerous bars and clubs, and street performances.

Day 7: Boat Tour of the Phi Phi Islands

Explore the pristine beaches and bays within the Phi Phi Islands by long-tail boat and luxury yacht

Change into your bathing suit and get ready for a day in the sun as you set off on a full-day yacht cruise around the Phi Phi Islands, an island group in the middle of the Andaman Sea. Meet your driver at your hotel at 10:00 am and transfer to the Royal Phuket Marina. Board the luxurious Hype Yacht and enjoy a refreshing welcome cocktail as you cruise to Maya Bay, which you may recognize from the movie "The Beach." Jump into the crystal-clear turquoise waters and go for a refreshing swim surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs before enjoying a gourmet lunch on board.

Soak up some more sun on Phi Phi Leh's Maya Beach, then climb back on board and continue to Pi Leh Bay on the eastern side of Phi Phi Leh, where you can enjoy another refreshing dip. Next, stop by Monkey Beach on the southwestern side of Phi Phi Don to see the resident monkeys frolicking along the shore from the yacht. Finally, drop anchor at Nui Beach on the northwestern coast, where you can disembark to swim and snorkel in a tranquil creek away from the more crowded spots.

In the early afternoon, if you're after an authentic Thai experience and wish to visit the islands, you can leave the yacht to board a traditional long-tail boat for a 1.5-hour boat trip. Afterward, you'll return to the yacht and cruise back to the marina, watch the sunset, have a drink, and dance to the music before disembarking and taking a shuttle van back to your hotel.

Day 8: Explore Phuket at Your Own Pace

Admire the colorful Sino-Portuguese architecture in Old Phuket Town

Today is free for you to spend as you wish. Head to the beach to soak up the sun, or make your way to Old Phuket Town to wander the vibrant streets. Pass well-preserved Sino-Portuguese architecture featuring colorful, ornate facades and colonial-era shophouses. If you're visiting on a Sunday, head to the Sunday Walking Market along Thalang Road, where you'll find everything from handmade crafts and unusual souvenirs to traditional Thai snacks and street food. Indulge in local delights like satay skewers, coconut pancakes, or mee hokkien (stir-fried noodles with vegetables and seafood or pork).

Then, continue to the Bid Buddha perched atop Nakkerd Hill. Look up at the 147-foot-high (45 m) white marble statue of Buddha, then enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills and distant Andaman Sea. End your self-guided tour at Wat Chalong, the largest and most revered Buddhist temple on the island. Explore the complex, stopping at the grand pagoda adorned with intricate designs and colorful murals depicting Buddha's life. Afterward, return to the Old Town or one of the island's beaches for a delicious Thai dinner.

Day 9: Boat Tour to Hong Island & James Bond Island

Cruise to Khao Phing Kan and admire the rock formations featured in a James Bond movie

Spend your penultimate day in Thailand on another boat tour, starting with a short transfer to the Royal Phuket Marina at 9:00 am. Board a speedboat and cruise to Hong Island, where you can switch to a canoe to paddle across Phang Nga Bay. As you glide through the crystal-clear water, look at the towering limestone karsts rising dramatically from the sea. Continue paddling to Panak Island to explore the caves on foot and see the stalactites and stalagmites before returning to the speedboat.

Around 1:00 pm, you'll cruise to Panyee Island for lunch at a floating restaurant before returning to the boat for a cruise to Khao Phing Kan—better known as "James Bond Island," as "The Man with the Golden Gun" was filmed here. Look up at the striking karst towers, particularly the needle-shaped rock formation known as Ko Ta Pu, from the boat. After taking in the view, head to the beach on Naka or Rang Yai Island to spend the rest of the day swimming and soaking up the sun. Around 5:30 pm, you'll return to the pier and transfer back to your hotel.

Day 10: Depart Phuket

Hike to the summit of Promthep Cape for panoramic views over the Andaman Sea

After exploring three iconic destinations in Thailand in just 10 days, it's time to head home. If you have a later flight, you can explore more of the island on your own. Return to Patong Beach or visit a new beach, such as Kata or Karon, for one last swim. Or, get an early start to your day with a hike to the summit of Promthep Cape. The path is well-maintained and not particularly steep, so it only takes 10-20 minutes to get to the top. When it's time, return to the hotel to meet your driver and transfer to the airport for your flight home. Safe travels!
