What you'll do
The tour starts at Madrid's most famous market, San Miguel Market. The buzzy atmosphere here is perfect for kicking off your tapear. You'll taste a few traditional dishes like a Spanish omelet, ordering your "pincho" with an ice-cold beer. Then, continue through San Miguel Square and into the diverse and eclectic La Latina neighborhood, a district well-known for its energy and eateries. Cava Baja and Cuchilleros streets are best for tapas, especially padrón peppers and popular mushroom recipes. We recommend pairing these bites with light beer or sidra (cider).
Next, approach Plaza Mayor and the Barrio de las Letras (the Literary Quarter). Learn how this historic neighborhood housed some of the world's most famous poets and artists. While living on beloved stretches like Huertas Street, these creatives produced some of their best work. Your next tapas spot is an old writers' haunt, Casa de Comidas. Plates here pair best with Spanish red wine, as you'll snack on meat and potato dishes.
Finally, you'll stroll to Plaza de Santa Ana, where you'll say goodbye to your guide and enter a traditional Tablao for your Flamenco show. Hidden down a side street, the atmosphere here is ideal for a passionate Flamenco performance, combining music, song, and dance. End the night by enjoying a drink with the show.
