Kayaking & Trekking on Mascardi Lake, Bariloche

45 minutes south of the city of Bariloche, just off Highway 40, lies Lago Mascardi. This is a smaller body of water than others in Argentina's Lake District and thus is more intimate. It's the perfect location for a day excursion that mixes kayaking over the royal blue surface of the lake with nature trekking through the forest. 

The experience begins at a campsite on the lakeshore owned by a local indigenous community. Then it's a kayak trip across the lake to Playa Leones, the most beautiful beach on Mascardi. There will be time to relax here on the tranquil pebble beach and enjoy the solitude and beauty of the surrounding wilderness. This is followed by a nature trek through native coihue forest to a secluded lagoon before heading back to Playa Leones to enjoy a picnic lunch. After that, it's time to hop back in the kayak and return to the starting point.
