What you'll do
Discover the beauty of flamenco on this evening out in Madrid. Make your way to the historic Tablao de la Villa in the city center, which lies in an ornate 19th-century mansion that's long been a venue for flamenco artists. Enter the intimate, dimly-lit tavern, which offers incredible acoustics and views of the stage from every seat.
First, your host will introduce you to the world of flamenco, outlining its history and significance as a Spanish art form. Learn about the rich cultural blend of Eastern, Arab, Jewish, and Christian influences that gave rise to flamenco and how it has become recognized as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. You'll also hear how Madrid embraced this Andalusian art form, nurturing it in cafés and flamenco tablaos (flamenco performance venues) and fostering legends like Camarón, Enrique Morente, Mario Maya, la Paquera de Jerez, and Tomatito.
Then, sit back and enjoy the show, performed by expert musicians and dancers from all over Spain. Immerse yourself in the passion and emotion of flamenco, witnessing the strumming of the guitar, clicking of castanets, and powerful dance steps. Sip on a complimentary drink during the performance; as you watch, you'll understand why Madrid fell so deeply in love with flamenco, cultivating it into a celebrated cornerstone of Spanish culture.
