What you'll do
Begin your journey along the magnificent Panorama Route, with pick-up from your hotel in Hoedspruit. From here, your professional and knowledgeable guide may chauffeur you through the Lowveld landscapes, allowing you to take in the natural scenery. As you travel, your guide will likely provide an in-depth commentary about the local geology and wildlife, enhancing your understanding and appreciation of the region.
Perhaps your route will take you through three quaint towns, Graskop, Sabie, and Pilgrim's Rest, each with distinctive charm. Enjoy the vistas as the Panorama Route converges into the Blyde River Canyon, the world's third-largest. Your first stop will likely be at the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, where you may view the Three Rondavels, three round, grass-covered mountain peaks resembling traditional African huts. It's common to spend about 30 minutes here, soaking in the grandeur of the cliffs and the river below.
From there, you might head to Bourkes' Luck Potholes, a natural geological formation of deep cylindrical rock sculptures created by water erosion. This site is also the meeting point of the Blyde and Treur Rivers. Perhaps you'll spend approximately 45 minutes exploring these fascinating geological formations. Next, you'll likely head to Lisbon Falls, one of the region's highest waterfalls, where you can admire them for around 20 minutes.
From the falls, you may journey to God's Window. On clear days, this spot offers a gorgeous panorama of the Lowveld. It's common to spend about 45 minutes exploring the area, including a fascinating rainforest at the top of the site. After a day filled with natural wonders and scenic beauty, your guide may drop you back at your hotel in Hoedspruit.
