What you'll do

After meeting your guides (30 minutes ahead of departure), you'll get outfitted in your flotation suit and listen to a safety briefing before it's time to set out from a quay in the Svolvær harbor.

You'll then cruise through the icy waters of the Raftsundet strait, making several stops at large sea eagle colonies to learn all things avian. Your expert guides will share insights into the local ecosystem and use locally sourced herring to attract the feathered creatures ever closer, providing you with unparalleled opportunities for wildlife observation and photography. Keep your camera ready as the sea eagles, with impressive wingspans of up to 8.7 feet (2.7 m), swoop down mere meters away from your perch in the boat.

Upon reaching the narrow Trollfjord, prepare to be captivated by its towering cliffs and calm waters, scanning the surface for additional wildlife like whales, dolphins, and seals. Your guides will also regale you with stories about the area's history, from the days of the Vikings to the late 19th-century Trollfjordslaget (Battle of Trollfjord) conflict, rounding out your nature-forward excursion to bring the fjord's history to life.
