Bilder Boutique Hotel, Bilbao
Charming and historically rich hotel in Bilbao with acoustically insulated rooms, breakfast, and city views
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- If you prefer being in Bilbao's Old Town but within walking distance from its modern side, this is a great choice, as the hotel is next to a riverfront park, yet Plaza Nueva is one minute away, and it's just four minutes from the cathedral.
- The rooms are bright, warm, and welcoming with trendy furnishings—and they're acoustically insulated to avoid outside noise and ensure a good night's rest.
- Enjoy breakfast and/or drinks at the property's eatery in a stylish lounge area on one of the top floors.
- If you have a car, you can use the Arenal Car Park next to the hotel with a 10% discount.
- The hotel is committed to environmental sustainability, eliminating minibars and artificial lighting in areas with natural light.
- Some rooms are interior, so they don't offer natural light.
- Besides the breakfast and bar in the lounge, there aren't any other amenities at the hotel.
Authenticity
The hotel, once an 18th-century mansion, is steeped in Bilbao's history and has served as the Palacio de Ampuero, the Café Suizo, and Calzados La Palma. Its walls have witnessed the city's evolution, and the hotel now embraces modernity while preserving tradition. The building's façade still features the original coat of arms, and the hotel's location on historic Correo Street allows you to immerse yourself in the unique spirit of Bilbao.
Location
The hotel is situated in the heart of Bilbao's Casco Viejo (Old Town) neighborhood and offers easy access to the city's attractions. You can explore the city easily, as it's less than a 5-minute walk from the metro, bus, tram, and train stations. If you prefer walking, you'll find the Old Town's charming Plaza Nuevo just one minute away, the Bilbao Cathedral in just four minutes, and the Guggenheim Museum a 25-minute walk via the picturesque riverfront walkway.
Rooms & Bathrooms
The hotel has 39 rooms designed for rest, complete with soundproofing, coffee-making facilities, and air conditioning. You can choose from interior and exterior units, though keep in mind that interior rooms don't have outdoor windows, so they lack natural light. Exterior rooms come with city views, and suites add extra space and a separate living area. All rooms have a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries.
Amenities
Amenities at Bilder Boutique Hotel are minimal. You’ve got your basics covered, like fast and reliable WiFi in the rooms and common areas, but there is no spa, gym, pool, or on-site parking. There is an elevator, but the hotel hasn’t been specifically designed with accessibility in mind.
Family-Friendliness
Children of any age are welcome, and kids up to the age of three can stay for free, while under nines get a reduced rate. Suites can accommodate families, but there are no special amenities catering to families or children.
Other Highlights
As a standard property, the hotel's highlights are minimal, but one of the standout features is the cozy breakfast lounge and bar. It sits on an upper floor with arched windows and antique furnishings. The hotel also has a commitment to sustainability and is always looking for unique solutions. Now, it's eliminated 24-hour minibars and artificial lighting in areas where natural light is already sufficient .
