Authenticity

While four of the rooms are original cave homes dating back several hundred years, all of the suites at Ikies follow that cave style. The hotel's location at the start of Oia makes it feel a little bit more removed from the packed crowds of the village, so guests here can enjoy the authentic cave hotel atmosphere a bit more. Each room follows a different theme based on occupations tied to the island, such as fisherman, artisan, and captain, all of which lends a historic touch to the space.

Location

Built into the cliffside at the start of Oia, Ikies is both central and just removed enough to allow for a bit of peace and privacy that can be hard to find during the high season in Santorini. Take the coastal path and walk to the center of Oia and its sights like the Blue Domed Church and the Castle in just 15 minutes. Drive to Thera in 20 or head to the other end of the island to explore the Red Beach and Akrotiri, which are 40 minutes away.

All 12 suites and one villa follow the traditional cave style of Santorini. In fact, four of these suites are actual former cave homes. Most of the rooms have jacuzzis or saunas and they all feature a caldera view. Each room has a different visual concept based on a local trade, such as the fisherman or winemaker's suite, which incorporate unique elements that highlight the theme. Families or groups of friends can take their pick of two-bedroom options or check out the villa, which sleeps up to five people.
