Overview
You'll find Sails in the Desert within the town's Ayers Rock Resort, a compilation of several properties. Like most of the hotels here, a 30-minute drive gets you to the iconic Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta, important sites for Australia's cultural heritage. Here, you can immerse yourself in a unique experience that reflects its surroundings and history. The rooms are designed for comfort and style yet immerse you in the local Anangu creation stories with natural tones complemented by Indigenous artwork, artifacts, and decorative pieces.
The hotel's Superior and Terrace Rooms are furnished with either twin Queen beds or one King bed, roll-away beds, and can sleep up to four people. For an upgrade, the Deluxe Suite offers a modern, neutral palette accented by colors and textures from the desert landscape outside. It features a separate living area, spacious bedroom, multiple balconies, and additional amenities such as a spa bath and rainwater shower. You can also step onto your balcony or patio and watch your day transform into night in the desert.
The hotel offers an array of amenities, including a swimming pool lined with gum trees and dining, lounge, and bar options for a drink or meal. The brasserie-style Ilkari Restaurant serves international flavors, while the Walpa Lobby Bar offers cocktails and Indigenous-inspired cuisine. For a casual dining experience, curl up on one of the daybeds by the pool and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Don't miss the stunning Mulgara Gallery, showcasing Indigenous art, or the unique treatments at the Red Ochre Spa for a complete relaxation experience.
