Anders Westlund

I've been working in the travel and hospitality industry almost my whole life. Born in Bodø, and growing up both in the north of Norway as well as living most of my life in the south, I have come to love all that Norway has to offer. i love to travel and discover new places, and new cultures.

How did you get involved in travel?

"I've always had an interest in traveling since I was a kid. I got into the hospitality industry at a young age and ended up going to a Swiss Hotel Management school to get my degree in hospitality/tourism. After that I've worked in hotels both in Norway as well as abroad. After getting my advanced diver certificate and private pilot license, I have found new ways to discover new places cultures, and people."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"Me and my wife driving around Italy one summer. We had no plans for what or where we wanted to go, we just drove around, and when we didn't want to travel anymore, we found a campsite and spent 1-2 nights before driving to new places. Ended up with one of our most fun vacations."

The dog sledding in Alta was a highlight!!! I would love to go back and actually stay there. The outings for the northern lights were a bust until Tromso mini van trip. Kinga was excellent and the lights put on not only one show but two! Also very much enjoyed the reindeer. The snow mobiling was OK but I much prefer to be with animals more than motors. That is a personal preference. There were problems with the trip. Sometimes it took over 24 hours to get a response from anyone at... Read more

Kinga was excellent and the lights put on not only one show but two! Also very much enjoyed the reindeer. The snow mobiling was OK but I much prefer to be with animals more than motors. That is a personal preference. There were problems with the trip. Sometimes it took over 24 hours to get a response from anyone at KimKim. Also, several different people so there was no continuity. In Tromso we were given the wrong meeting place on the printed schedule which made us miss a half a day of our vacation and got up extra early. That was really sloppy. I would like to be reimbursed for this expense since we lost a half day and had to be rescheduled to another company. (Not as good as the Alta experience.)

This was our second trip planned with Kimkim, and it went equally as well! Anders took our requests and opinions and created the perfect 8-day trip to Oslo and Tromso. It was the perfect time of year to visit the Christmas villages in Oslo and to see the amazing winter landscape in Tromso. We were fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights too! The highlight of our trip and our top recommendation was the husky sledding experience. This visit highlighted the unique and nature-driven adoration that Norwegians live by. The dogs were incredible to meet and play with. We would certainly recommend visiting this country during the winter time to anyone looking for a winter adventure!

They were not informing us of cancelations in Tromso and they were not helpful in plannng The Blue Lagoon and didn't advise us of darkness. Hotels were excellent that bthey booked for us. The 24 hour emergency line person in Tromso was completely useless and seemed annoyed when we called.
