How did you get involved in travel?

"My adventure tourism career commenced as a Superjeep expert in a quaint company in Iceland. The thrill of maneuvering modified 4x4 vehicles into the remote highlands ignited my love for exploring the region's unique landscape.

Over the years, I have donned various exciting roles - from a bus guide, snowmobile expert, to an ice-climbing guide. These diverse experiences have endowed me with a profound understanding of the Nordic landscape and the optimal ways to traverse it. My passion for sharing my knowledge and expertise is unwavering, and I am always on the hunt for innovative ways to help you uncover the magic of the Nordic region's untamed attractions.

As an Icelandic tour guide for many years, I offer you an extensive knowledge of Iceland's glaciers and volcanoes. I am your go-to person when you want to explore the wild side of Iceland. I can guide you through the breathtaking landscapes of Charcot Havn and the thunder-like sound of ice breaking as we sail among icebergs, experiences that will leave a lasting impression.

As your guide, my goal is to create itineraries that enable you to connect with the rugged landscape in meaningful ways. Let's explore the Arctic region together, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Welcome to Unforgettable Nordic, your gateway to a truly personal Arctic adventure.
"

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I've had the honor of leading countless clients on unforgettable Northern Lights tours atop the majestic Langjökull glacier. As an Icelander, I've had my fair share of encounters with the ethereal Northern Lights, yet, one particular night stands out from the rest.

On this night, a high KP index due to a coronal mass ejection and perfectly clear skies came together to create a celestial masterpiece. The sky transformed into a cosmic canvas, adorned with an explosion of colors. The Aurora Borealis, usually a shimmering curtain of green, evolved into a vivid and vibrant spectacle, displaying every color of the rainbow visible to the naked eye. It was a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence that was nothing short of breathtaking.

The sight of the bright red Aurora pirouetting across the sky is a memory that is forever etched in my heart. Its intensity was such that even the best camera could not fully encapsulate its beauty. This experience reaffirmed my deep appreciation for Iceland's natural wonders and the magic of exploring its diverse landscapes.

After some hiccups my program for Norway and Sweden was set. Silvia helped me set up my bookings for various places in Norway – Oslo, Flam, Bergen and Trondheim, and Stockholm in Sweden. My challenging trip involved booking hotels, trains and a short cruise and she met them all. I had an idea of what I wanted to do and she enhanced the trip by making some suggestions, which I took and enjoyed! All in all, my trip was successful and it was great to have all the tickets and bookings done before I went to the countries. The walking maps, places to see and where to eat Silvia provided helped me to see the city. In three key places my room had excellent views. I don’t think I would have been able to do that myself. I took the day tours she recommended, and they were all great. I look forward to working with Silvia again sometime (if she will work with me – LOL) to see Iceland and Denmark.

Hotel Reviews
Comfort Hotel Karl Johan
Oslo

The location is the best part of this hotel. It is near the Central Station and it was super easy to go everywhere from there. Rooms were comfortable and staff was ready to help with anything. The only thing I missed having was a hot water kettle to have tea in my room. Breakfast was a bit boring. Same thing everyday (I stayed 5 nights).

Fretheim Hotel
Flåm

I think this hotel is a bit overrated. It was just like any other 3 star hotel. The room was okay, my view was in the front so yes, it was great. Flam is really small and this hotel was just a 1 min walk to the station. The bathroom was clean, bed was comfortable. Wifi was fine. The breakfast was boring and not much choice for vegetarians despite the huge spread. Even the hash browns were dry and hard.

The hotel was about a 12-15 min walk from the station but the location was excellent. It was right in the historic district of Bergen. I was lucky to have a room on the 6th floor with a great view. The location was superb. I could walk to all the buses, tourist places, grocery store and visitor center. I completely enjoyed that. The hot water kettle really helped as I am tea drinker. Room and bathroom were both great. Breakfast was okay.

This was the short 2 night, 1 day cruise from Bergen to Trondheim. The room, wifi, bathroom - all were good, although I was almost in the bowels of the ship. I did have a peephole to look out. This was quite expensive cruise. It was kind of cheap of them to not provide meals for everyone who stays the night. They did not even provide breakfast. There were plenty of places to sit and view the scenery. And there were some eating places to buy food. They could have had more evening programs to engage passengers.

The room that was booked for me was the single room. It was good size. All was good - the room, the bathroom, the hot water kettle, the wifi. The best part was the food - breakfast and the "light" dinner was great. The light dinner was not so light. For me it was a full meal. The breakfast was also great. The only thing was that they did not have the dinner on the weekends...why? The location was fantastic.

The location was a little far from the central station, but otherwise it was okay. I had to walk a bit to get to the buses and trains. But the walking was okay - it was all through the shopping area, so fun to look around. I did not like that they did not have an elevator for the first floor. Carrying luggage up and down is never fun. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was quite boring...same old bread and eggs.

Halldór and Silvia have saved me enormous research time to customize a trip that fits the very different needs and interests of 4 family members. My mom, brother, husband and I all had a great time in Iceland. Everyone’s wishes were fulfilled.

They have also saved me a lot of time and headaches readjusting the hotel and tour bookings when our plan changed. Indeed they were the reason why I could focus on the journey and experience instead of logistic chores.

They have recommended the best ice cave + lagoon + whale tour in each area during the season. We compared ours with the others and were happy that they'd chosen the best for us. They’ve also warned us in advance when a severe snowstorm was about to hit and readjusted the route and hotel accommodation right away. It was life-saving!

If there is anything that can be improved, I will say I wish we had more transparency in the fee and also what to expect from their service right at the beginning. That would have made our initial communication much smoother.

But overall, I am very happy with Halldór and Silvia, and I would highly recommend any first-time Iceland visitors to use their service.

Room With A View Apartment Hotel
Reykjavík

The location is great. But the room in reality is not as cool and as comfortable as the photos in their website! It was relatively worn out and old-fashioned. The shower was not functioning properly. Also it is impossible to find a parking space near the hotel. So don't choose this hotel if you are driving.

A decent clean hotel, good for a short stay. The room is a bit too small for a couple though. And I wish we stayed in the main building, not the extension blocks. The main building is much more stylish. Also you don't need to walk in the freezing wind to get your breakfast.

Thank you for your positive feedback, as unforgettable Icelands first ring road collaboration with kimkim there is definitely room for reflection, especially regarding selected accomodations.

Our goal is to provide hands on quality support to all our clients. It was our pleasure to help with logistics during on of the worst blizzards to hit north Iceland in a decade.
