Great trip!! It was our first time in Australia and New Zealand and both countries were spectacular! Spending 5 days in Sydney was just perfect. We went on a bike tour (on our own) with Bonzo Bike Tours, located in the Rocks area. It was 5 hours of seeing all the best sights and absolutely perfect! I would also recommend seeing the opera at the Sydney Opera house, which we organized on our own. The only negative experience was the Blue Mountains Day tour. While the sights were beautiful and scenic, our guide/driver was constantly speeding and ended up getting a ticket. At times, we felt rushed and unsafe. He tried arguing with the police officer and spoke very negatively about police, construction workers, and others. After the ticket, he was not in a good mood and begged for a positive google review. The Outer Barrier Reef Cruise with Quicksilver was fantastic and we are so glad we added that to our plans. The best experience was the Milford Sound Fly, Cruise, Fly tour. Absolutely breathtaking reviews and the tour company was so professional and experienced in taking care of us. I would delete the stop in Dunedin, if I had do to do the trip again, the wildlife tour there was not much different than we already experienced and the town of Dunedin was not as vibrant as Queenstown.
The only other tour I would change was the 12 hour rail trip on the Northern Explorer Scenic Train from Wellington to Auckland. I would just get a flight to Auckland. We absolutely loved the food tour in Wellington, our guide was awesome and the Waiheke Wine tour was beautiful and fun for our last full day in New Zealand.

Overall, we had an amazing trip! Jon did a great job planning it but was not still with the company when we actually left for the trip. Along those lines, there were a few issues with the vendors not having our contact information. This caused problems a few times as they needed to get in touch with us in a timely manner and were trying to reach Jon who was no longer with the company. So that could have been handled better. Almost all the tours were great! We did not enjoy the Daintree Rainforest tour at all. It was a very long 11 hour day and about 9 of those hours were on a bus. Do not recommend. We ended up forfeiting our $600 rental car as we did not bring our drivers licenses. This was definitely largely on us but we had just travelled through ireland for 9 days and picking up our car there with a passport so it didn’t really cross our minds. Definitely need to let clients know this ahead of time. I appreciate that the team was able to get us on buses instead and honestly, I wish we had just done buses all along and not bothered with trying to drive ourselves. The hotels were great and our itinerary definitely included the highlights of each location which was wonderful! For a 6 week trip it was pretty amazing how smoothly it went!

I see the value in the services you provide, but given the scale, length, and cost of the trip, I believe more detailed conversations would have been helpful. I specifically requested private and exclusive experiences, but in hindsight, I didn’t fully review the hotel options that were selected. Accommodations in Sydney and Caines was mediocre and the hotel in Melbourne was the worst experience I’ve had.

Additionally, with this being our first trip to Australia and not fully understanding the logistics, I felt that five days in Cairns was too much. For example, the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway on Day 8, especially after we had already seen wildlife in the wild, felt like a wasted day. Visiting Little Koala Gardens was another disappointment.

Regarding our time in Melbourne, I felt that Day 10, which was focused on Philip Island, was overly packed. While the penguin viewing at the end of the day was fantastic, the visit to the small sanctuaries could have been skipped—spending an entire day on that experience wasn’t necessary. In fact, if I had two or three more days to play with, I could have spent more time in other areas of interest.

On a positive note, I truly appreciated the app you provided for day-to-day information. It was very helpful, and although the contact information for our local guides was initially missing, I was impressed with how quickly it was added, and I really appreciated the prompt response

Adina Apartment Hotel Melbourne
Melbourne

We chose to stay at Adina based on Jon's recommendation, but I really wish I had paid more attention to the reviews. We spent four nights and five days there as a family, and were excited about staying in the penthouse suite. However, the reality was far from what we expected. Here’s a summary of the major issues I encountered, which are so basic I would expect them even from a three-star hotel. 1. I understand that daily room cleaning isn’t always provided, but despite requesting it multiple times, we never received proper room service. When they did come, they simply changed the bed sheets—nothing else was cleaned. 2. Towels were never provided, even after repeated requests. 3. The overall condition of the room was disappointing—dirty and dated. 4. The biggest issue was the lack of ventilation in the bathroom. There was no exhaust fan, and the bathroom itself was dingy and moldy. 5. The coffee machine didn’t work, and despite asking housekeeping to take a look, they were unable to fix it. 6. The service at the front desk was terrible—my requests often went unanswered or ignored.

Overall, this hotel was better than mediocre, but I find it hard to understand how a property of this size could consistently run out of towels. This was an okay experience, but it felt a bit redundant after doing Reef Magic. The glass-bottom boat wasn’t worth it, and the snorkeling and diving experience was mediocre at best. The biggest issue I had was being dropped off at an island with nowhere to store your things or find a comfortable spot to relax. I wasn’t aware of this beforehand. The meals provided were box lunches, and honestly, they weren’t worth it either.

We booked this well in advance, but Jon didn’t communicate our phone numbers to the local team, which caused a delay in getting our tickets on the day off. We had to wait in long lines and was extremely frustrating. It could all have been avoided. The boat was at full capacity with over 400 people, so it felt chaotic. Since we booked so far ahead, I wish I had more details about the activities, like snorkeling options, so I could have signed up ahead instead of arriving on a crowded boat and scrambling to sign up and not getting our choice timings and options. That said, diving into the Great Barrier Reef was the highlight of the trip—it was an amazing experience. The lunch was also really good, despite the long lines, and I appreciated that they noted my child’s food allergy and took good care of her.

We were picked up in the afternoon and taken to the Moonlit Sanctuary tour, but it was a big disappointment. The park, with its local animals, felt small and underwhelming, and since it was around 90° that day, all the animals were hibernating. It definitely wasn’t worth the time. I’d suggest instead spending the day at Phillip Island for lunch, followed by the Penguin Parade, which is definitely worth it and the real highlight of the day. If you’re planning ahead like we did, be sure to check the details of your ticket. We were a group of five, and three of our kids were seated in economy while we had plus seats. We had Plus viewing and Economy seating felt like a total waste—plus is definitely the way to go for the best experience. So, make sure to review your seating options in advance.

We have just returned from a wonderful "bucket list" trip to Australia. We can't thank Tia enough for her attention to detail and ability to work with us and our budget. We had time constraints due to work and she was able to help us narrow down our choices of where to travel in 8 days( plus travel days). We arranged our international flights, Tia handled the rest of the details, including the flight between Sydney and Cairns.
We left USA on Wednesday afternoon and arrived in Sydney early Friday morning. She arranged for a private driver to meet us at the airport in Sydney, who drove us to our hotel and gave us a brief tour of the area. We stayed at the Vibe hotel in downtown Sydney, walking distance to many restaurants, the Sydney harbor and Opera House. We did the the hop on hop off bus tour as well as wander around on our own. We then travelled by private transfer to the retreat at the Taronga Zoo, Sydney for a one night stay. Fabulous ! 3 course dinner, behind the scenes tours in the evening and early morning prior to zoo opening/closing, buffet breakfast. We then flew to Cairns (Jetstar airlines), had a private driver at the airport to take us to the Pacific hotel for a 2 night stay , walking distance to everything. We also had a day and night on the Great Barrier reef to do some scuba diving with Ocean Quest, an amazing opportunity as we actually stayed on a catamaran on the Great Barrier Reef !We did a tour with Billy Tea Safaris to the Daintree rainforest (oldest rainforest on the planet), we also took a train ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway and the Skyrail. I had a few questions during our trip and when I used the app suggested by KimKim, if Tia could not answer, another team member did, promptly. We could not have asked for a smoother trip,. Thank you Tia (and team members) !

Good way to get an overview of Sydney. We explored Manly beach the day before on our own(took public ferry from Sydney harbor), saw Bondi beach with the Big bus tour, had the opportunity to see many parts of the city we would not otherwise would have had time to get to. The only partially negative point would be if you change lines on the bus, you need to pay attention to the times of last trip offered.

The retreat is located in the middle of the zoo ,which is located at the end of a community of "high end" homes. The rooms are spacious and have a great view of different parts of the zoo. I got up early in the morning and actually saw a koala bear right outside our room! Close enough to get a few great pictures but not close enough to touch.

We got picked up from our hotel (but the Pacific Hotel is maybe 3 short blocks from the dock, we could have walked), boarded the boat at the dock, seemed quite crowded. We went for a short ride then whoever wanted to dive could get outfitted with gear (after filling out liability/medical questionnaire) or snorkel. We stopped two places on the reef , beautiful. Snacks onboard included muffins, fresh fruit. Coffee, tea, and a few other items were for purchase. There was a photographer onboard who dove and took pictures, made later for sale at a reasonable price, beautiful quality. After the second stop, those of us who were going to spend the night on the reef with Diver's Den were taken to a point where we were assisted from one boat to the other. Safety briefing aboard catamaran done, rooms assigned, safety rules presented. Daytime dive/snorkel opportunities offered. This was my husband's 65th birthday wish, to dive the Great Barrier Reef...He was NOT disappointed ! Coral for the most part was healthy and colorful, not too many larger fish, many small ones, the occasional turtle or shark. Meals were simple and the cook was very open about giving a different option to those with dietary restrictions. When we were on board there were 3 different classes going on, one group becoming dive masters, one learning more about rescue diving and one getting open water certification. Mixed ages, more younger then older ,every body was welcomed with same enthusiasm by the crew. We had the opportunity to do 2 more dives that day, then we were given lunch and our bags were transported back to the other boat first, then we were assisted over. My husband did 7 dives over this two day trip, I did 5 and a snorkel trip .back on the transfer boat fresh fruit was offered as well as other snacks ,some for a fee.

Nicely maintained "old style" train cars with narrated information of places passed and history of the railroad in that area. Post train ride we were in the mountain village of Kuranda that offered a butterfly farm, a koala viewing area (they had other animals as well), a bird aviary ,, shops and restaurants. When we were done walking around, eating and seeing the sights, we got on the Skyrail for the trip back down the mountain. The skyrail makes a few stops where you can get out and look at a large waterfall we saw from the train earlier.

There are two choices- petting a koala or holding a koala. Both choices are only 1 minute long while they take pictures, but be sure you book the experience that you want. We wanted to hold the koalas but had booked petting the koala. Did not know there were different options.

Our trip to NZ and Australia was fantastic. We enjoyed everything. Sabina did a great job of listening you our requests and fulfilling them.
Outstanding features of the trip included our overnight cruise on the Southern Secret in Doubtful Sound. The tour by Australia Nature Tours was also outstanding. Kangaroo Island staying at the Sea Dragon lodge was the highlight of the trip for me.
Our only wish was that we had more time in each location to explore.
Highly recommend KimKim Co.

Vickie put an enormously epic trip together for us with nary a flaw. From the first minute to the last everything was timed exactly right and the events and accommodations were perfect. She was available to us on a moment’s notice and always went the extra yard to provide yet another thoughtful gesture. You can hear the smile in her voice with every message. She showed us why NZ is a special country and she did magic to provide reasons (excuses) to return. She will go down in history with our memories of the holiday. Thank you!!
