Perfect location to jump off for a Manuel Antonio park visit or a snorkeling / dive trip. We spent 2 nights there and were very comfortable. The room was large and clean, and the grounds have wildlife but we ran out of time there to explore due to an all day snorkeling trip we took. We really liked this hotel and Manuel Antonio in general. We ate dinner at Oceano and it was so good!
Stay a couple of more days than we did - we never had time to really explore the park or laze on the beach enough.
I can't say enough about how lovely this mountain lodge was. The grounds were peaceful, right on the river and the restaurant food was excellent! Our guide, Grevies, was like Mr. Roarke from Fantasy Island - always there when we needed him! He also took us on a Quetzal safari and we did get to see a male. This part of the country is just beautiful and serene. The lodge room was clean and comfortable. It was a place you could decompress and also go for challenging hikes.
It gets chilly in this part of the country at night.
Awesome view!
All I can say is - WOW. This hotel, if you want to call it that, is multiple buildings, a restaurant, a bar, a gift shop, a spa, and many small hot spring pools with the spring water from the volcano. Yes, that's right. The gardens and grounds are beyond beautiful and you know you are in a luxurious space there. The town was such a fun area and the people were nice. We went to an amazing restaurant in town with traditional Costa Rican food for dinner, called Tiquicia, and we recommend making a reservation. I didn't want to leave La Fortuna and Hotel Los Lagos.
Stay more days than we did!

We saw a male quetzal!
My husband did the zipline and I did the sloth rescue and butterfly habitat, then we did the hanging bridges together. It was all really fun.
We didn't see that much at night but it was really fun to be in the forest in the dark. We did see some snakes, frogs and cool insects though. And a sleeping motmot and hummingbird.
Carla did such a great job of showing us the highlights in the park, and she really knew a lot about the animals we saw. The highlight was the howler monkeys!
We had so much fun. We saw humpback whale baby with 2 cows, many dolphins, some killer whales before we ever got in the water. In the open water we saw many fish and some small sharks. Then we went to a nice beach and had lunch. The crew was attentive and kept us very safe, and our guide Arturo was awesome. Highly recommend!
We saw about 50 species of birds and then more on the way back to the hotel! The first bird we saw was a toucan! You get up early but it's worth it. It's a birdwatcher's paradise in Costa Rica.
