This was the trip of a lifetime!
A little background: I had never heard of kimkim. When I was researching itineraries for our trip to Morocco, the kimkim options continued to present the most interesting itineraries. Initially, I was a little hesitant to book with an online company. But, the reviews were very good. I’m so glad I did it!
Kimkim put me in contact with Majid. Majid is so patient, thorough and pays attention to detail. He grew up in Morocco and coordinates tours. He had amazing reviews, so I decided to book the trip.
Majid and I did most of our communication online. I could have called him, but the online system with kimkim is so easy. Majid was always quick to respond to any of my questions. I don’t think he ever sleeps! Majid listened to my goals- I wanted a trip with personal cultural experiences and some adventure. He made suggestions of the daily itinerary, hotels, restaurants and essential stops. He welcomed my requests for a different hotel at one stop and an additional night at another. He was very easy to work with and super responsive. Majid arranged for Moha to tour us through Morocco.
Moha: although he was introduced to us as our driver, he was more of our personal guide to Morocco. He was so kind, genuine, welcoming and knowledgeable. Everywhere we went he introduced us to people like we were family. He is more than I ever could have hoped for in a guide. We felt safe and well cared for throughout the whole trip. Moha and Majid were in regular contact making sure all the details were correct. And, Majid directly reached out to me multiple times on the trip to make sure everything was going as planned.
Moha met us at the airport upon our arrival Saturday. He drove us to our hotel, La Maison Arabe, and waited until we were settled into our rooms before he left. We were met by Hamid in the evening for a food tour. Hamid was our local guide in Marrakesh. Prior to our trip I was worried that eating in the souk the first night may not go well for our stomachs. But, I did not need to worry. Hamid knew all the best places! We had Moroccan soup cooked by the prior chef of the king- it was the best soup we had all week! We had crepes, Berber donuts, tagine and more! It was a great way to start the trip
Sunday Hamid gave us a full day tour of the city. We visited historical sites and the souk- he even kept our teenage boys interested!
Monday we flew to the merzouga area. We spent the day with Moha visiting sites on our way to the desert. The best part of the day was visiting Risani with Moha. He showed us around a kasbah where families continue to live and where he played as a boy. He also arranged for us to eat lunch with a local Berber family. Mohamed, his wife and 3 children ate lunch with us in their home. They made Berber pizza- yum! The most fun was joking around with Mohamed’s son and when Mohamed taught our boys how to tie their scarves for our upcoming camel trek into the desert. Mohamed was so kind and willing to share his stories with us.
Monday evening we rode camels into the desert during sunset! It was so awesome! We stayed at Tiziri luxury camp. I was initially worried about it being cold at night. But, we were warm in jackets around the fire at night. The tents very heated, beds comfortable and hot water showers. I recommend staying 2 nights since you arrive in the evening. Ahmed is the manager- he makes sure the camp is very well run. The food was excellent. During the day we went on a tour with a staff member from the tiziri camp who brought us to have tea with a nomad family and helped us understand their way of life. Our boys had a great time riding dune buggies and sand boarding! The music at night was incredible
Moha met us Wednesday morning to drive us to the Dades valley. Along the way, we stopped in todra gorge for a tour of the community farms.
We stayed Wednesday and Thursday at Dar Rhiana Dades. The food was amazing, the rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff is so kind. We really enjoyed our time at this Riad. On Thursday, Moha introduced us to Mohamed. He is a local who grew up in the mountains around the Dades Gorge. We hiked, listened to stories, climbed rocks and laughed with him for 4 hours. It was amazing! We met back with Moha at Mohammed’s house where Isha, his wife, had prepared an amazing meal! What a great day.
Friday we drove back to Marrakesh (6 hours). We stopped at the kasbah where they filmed gladiator along our way. We ate dinner at dar esselem- a nice meal with live entertainment. A nice way to end the trip.
The highlights: Moha and Majid! Moha was so amazing. I am so thankful that Majid coordinated such an amazing itinerary and chose Moha to guide us through the trip. Moha introduced us to the most amazing local guides to make sure we had a personal experience at each stop. Camel trekking is a must! Hiking the gorge was awesome!
Thank you for everything
Hotel Reviews
From the moment you walk in the door, you are welcomed by everyone. The staff is so attentive and helpful. The rooms are beautiful! We loved he breakfast. The jazz club is a nice way to relax in the evening. It is a perfect distance from the souk- close enough to walk but far enough to be quiet. Wonderful hotel!
Perfect size camp- about 8 tents. We loved taking a camel ride into the desert during sunset for your arrival. The staff is very helpful and kind. The tents are very comfortable: heated, hot water in showers and comfortable beds. We loved the excursion with dune buggies and meeting a nomad family. Food is great!
The rooms are beautifully decorated! The hotel staff is absolutely amazing. Lots of attention to detail. The food is so good!

Hamid was amazing! I was initially concerned about starting our trip with a food tour because I was worried it would upset our stomachs. I did not need to worry! Hamid knew all the best places to visit. We loved the Moroccan soup- made by the prior chef of the king!

We loved traveling with Moha from the airport to Merzouga. He introduced us to Risani, the city where he grew up. We went to see fossils. It was awesome

Moha was an amazing guide to this area

This was really special. We ate Berber pizza with Mohamed, his wife and 3 children. Mohamed was so kind and open. We learned so much about berbere culture. One of the best parts was watching him teach my boys how to tie their scarves for the upcoming camel trek!

We were introduced to a local guide who taught us about community farming and the local culture So interesting. Great short hike

Definitely plan to hike the Dades valley. Moha connected us with Mohamed who grew up in the mountains around the gorge. We had an incredible experience listening to stories, hiking, rock climbing and laughing with Mohamed all afternoon. Then, we enjoyed lunch at his home. So amazing
This was an activity that I picked. It was not recommended by Magid or Moha. It was a family friendly way to experience a haman. But, it was very touristy. I would not recommend it.

Thank you so much for your incredible review!
