Hotel Reviews
I am a staff at kimkim, and stayed at this hotel for a destination develoopment trip. Great location for the hotel it's just steps away from a metro stop, making it very easy to get around. It's walkable to most sites also (10 minutes walk to casa batilo for example). The staff are helpful, and I loved the luggage locker they provided, it was super useful for my arrival day to be able to drop my bags off and start exploring. My biggest complaint about the hotel is the noise. I was in an outside room and at night the sounds from the road would wake me up. The noise insulation was just not great.
Amazing historical hotel in the middle of Madrid. I learnt from the manager that this is the oldest hotel in Spain, and it was great to be able to stay there. The hotel is literally a step away from the center of Plaza Mayor, a major attraction of the city. The breakfast was great, lots of options, from the cold cuts, cheese, to fruit and yogurt and hot foods such as scrambled eggs, etc. Lots of options. My room was pretty big I thought for a city center hotel. My only complaint is that there is a bit of noise in the rooms from other guests in the hallways. While I thought the window noise insulation was pretty good (you could hear something if you really listened for it), it was the sound of other guests coming in/out of the rooms that was loud.
Activity Reviews
I thought initially this activity was just the concert. But actually you get to visit the house first, and then the concert is just 1 hr on the roof top. It was lovely to see the inspiration of Gaudi in the house. It was a bit busy, even for a night visit, there were a lot of people both for the visit as well as for the concert.
My guide was amazing! She knew the owners, and the food and was so engaging to talk with. Highly recommend it. We went to 3 taps restaurants, and at each location she ordered 4 - 6 different types of food and 1 type of drink. We tried Vermouth, a local red wine and cava, and so many different foods. I really appreciated that she was so knowledgable about the different foods, their history, and the different wine regions. Definitely what I was looking for in a tapas tour!
