All guides except Paros were excellent. Particularly good were Leda in Naxos and Lena in Crete. The guide in Paros was not licensed and was very negative. Trip was designed as we requested. But, one to many days in Santorini and Crete. Duplication of events in Santorini should have been avoided plus winery was mediocre and not a suitable place for an authentic Greek cooking lesson. Avoiding duplication in Crete was charged to us which seemed unfair.
Hotel Reviews
Owner operators of boutique hotel do a fantastic job with the hotel and restaurant. Convenient location to beach and restaurants.
Stunning views from rooms and magical breakfast on the terrace made this the perfect hotel. Only downside is 126 steps from street to room.
Comfortable, clean and spectacular rooftop bar, pool and restaurant with views of Acropolis. Centrally located.
The gastro theme is not evident in the hotel. Breakfast and dinner were mediocre. Staff was friendly and helpful. But one of two rooms was unsatisfactory from arrival until day 2. Twin mattress, no maid service, shower leaked all over room floor, problems not resolved as promised on first night. After changing rooms remainder of stay was fine. Close to shopping and cafes.
Activity Reviews
The tour as described was supposed to be about food. Half the time was about history and politics. Only went to 3 food tastings.
Guide Leda took us to an authentic run local restaurant where we met the owners and tasted a wide variety of classic menu items. Excellent tour. We also visited the old Venetian church/castle which was very interesting but did not expect to be touring historical sites on this tour.
Great event at a farmhouse kitchen cooking, eating and drinking.
This tour was a drive around the island pointing out sites but not stopping at any to explore. In shopping area most stores were closed. After 4 hour tour we were dropped at port on our own for 5 hour wait for ferry. Not comfortable or well timed. Guide was not licensed or registered and did not like his job or his life. He repeatedly told us how unhappy he is.
This was a disaster. We had a reservation and pre arranged meal, prepaid. The restaurant knew nothing about it and our server did not speak English so we could fix the confusion. Restaurant looked great and appetizer was fantastic.
Long and varied day of history, wine and beach. It was not the tour we agreed to take and missed many famous sites.
We canceled this tour because of high winds affecting ferry ride to/from and effort level required to walk the site.
We left. We were ignored for 30 minutes. The cooking lesson is a table in a part of a restaurant. Nothing authentic or unique about it.
This is described as the #1 tour on Santorini. I completely agree. Very professional crew, beautiful views, delicious and ample food.
Amazing views into history. Guide Lena explained well.
Guide was brilliant. Answered all questions. Site was amazing.
Stunning western part of Crete. Wish I could have spent more time there and stayed overnight. Fantastic local restaurant, possibly best meal I had in Greek islands.
