Dog-sledding in the Norwegian countryside has to be one of the most unique and adventurous activities on earth. Moreover, it's the ideal way to experience the primal majesty of the Arctic terrain. This half-day excursion from the city of Tromsø starts by arriving at a dog-sledding camp where a professional will brief participants on the art of mushing. Everyone will then break off into pairs and share a sled.

After a meet-and-greet with hundreds of huskies and their puppies, it's time to embark. The pairs will take turns driving and riding throughout the journey, and first-time sledders needn't be nervous—professional guides will ride alongside every step of the way and offer any tips and instructions as they arise. The sled trail covers a total of 2.4 miles (4km), and along the way, there will be a stop for hot coffee, tea, and biscuits.
