What you'll do
Your journey commences with a drive to La Fortuna, from where you'll head northwest on Route 142 for approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) to reach EcoTermales Hot Springs. Please note that reservations are essential, as only 80 visitors are admitted during the two-time slots (9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.).
Once inside, you can unwind in one of the six thermal pools or take a refreshing dip in the two cold water pools. The pool temperatures range from 99°F – 106°F, offering a range of soaking experiences. You can also bask in the serenity of the cascading waterfall pool, an ideal spot for relaxation amidst the natural surroundings.
Enjoy the convenience of onsite amenities, including a restaurant serving traditional lunches and buffet dinners, a refreshment bar, restroom facilities, changing rooms, and towel rentals. Moreover, the property boasts designated walking trails through the adjacent rainforest, allowing you to further explore this picturesque environment.

Embark on an adrenaline-pumping whitewater rafting adventure down the Río Balsa. You'll transfer from La Fortuna to the put-in spot on the river, where your guide will give you safety instructions and outfit you with a helmet and life vest. Then, push off into the current and start paddling through rolling Class II and III rapids with names like Morning Coffee and Rock around the Croc. Enjoy wildlife spotting along the way—you'll even have a chance to swim while passing through calmer stretches of the river.
