The Inca site walk was really interesting and fun to explore. We didn't spend much time going through the village, I think because of our stop at a brewery on the way back. The timing worked out well for us since we had a very early start for the Inca trail the next day, but I wouldn't have minded a bit more time in the village. Read more

Olly (for short) is a small town that offers up a lot of sights and experiences. Situated about halfway between Cusco and Machu Picchu, and a stop on the railway between the two, it is easily accessible. There are serval Inca sights to see, and I appreciated getting to ones that were on and off the main tourist circuit. The town itself is very scenic, with a lively marketplace and historic center. Tips for future travelers

Chances are you'll end up in Olly if you're going to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. It is a worthwhile stop to make. Go to the fortress, as everyone does, but also climb up the other side of the valley to the Inca ruins that are opposite the fortress, and are, in my humble opinion, way more awesome.

I enjoyed this whole day, even though the guide was a bit delayed due to traffic. The driver was accommodating and we met up with the guide shortly after. I loved the lunch in Ollantaytambo and the tour of the Inca ruins, although it was a bit of a hike. I felt a little underprepared for the physical exertion, but overall, the day was fantastic.
