What you'll do
You'll begin this adventure by meeting your guide outside the Bergen tourist information center at Strankaien 3, where you'll be greeted and transported to the start of your kayak journey. The drive to the launch point takes you through scenic routes, setting the tone for the nature-filled day ahead. Upon arrival, your guide will provide a brief orientation and safety instructions and ensure you're comfortable in your stable double kayaks.
As you paddle around the Øygarden islets, your guide will share fascinating stories about the local culture and natural history. Expect to see a variety of coastal wildlife, including a high chance of spotting eagles soaring above. This beginner-level kayaking tour is designed to be leisurely and accessible, perfect for those with little to no kayaking experience. You'll marvel at the serene landscape, with opportunities to observe marine life like crabs, shrimps, and possibly even salmon jumping near your kayak.
Midway through your excursion, you'll stop on a tiny island for a well-deserved lunch break. Here, you'll savor a freshly prepared local meal, with options including fish, meat, or vegetarian fare, accompanied by apple juice from a nearby farm. This stop allows you to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere while refueling for the remainder of your paddle. After lunch, you'll continue your exploration of the islets, soaking up the natural beauty and tranquility of the region. The kayaking excursion concludes back at the launch point, where you'll be transported back to the Bergen tourist information center.
