What you'll do

One of the most scenic areas of Ibiza is the island's northern coast, known for its rocky sea cliffs and pine forests. With a moderate hike, you can enjoy the scenery by visiting a beautiful lighthouse and admiring the coves and caves. Make a stop to swim, hunt for quartz, and/or explore the ancient terraced hills with carob and orange trees.

Your trek starts at the end of Portinatx, on a small yet sandy beach. You'll head north, following the coastline to the island's most northerly beach, where scientists discovered fossils from more than one million years ago. Enjoy the views—on a clear day, you can see all the way to Mallorca—plus the picturesque coves, inlets, caves, and rock formations. Your guide will then take you to a hidden beach, the perfect place to swim on a warm, calm day.

After your break, you'll continue through a scenic forest, passing ancient carob, fig, and orange trees, then start your trek back to Portinatx along the same trail. This route is a perfect morning walk, especially since starting earlier means having the beach nearly all to yourself. If you'd rather skip swimming, sunset is another good time to hike. Overall, you'll walk about five miles (8 km).
