Hot Air Balloon Ride, La Rioja

Enjoy an unforgettable experience soaring over La Rioja, a memory you'll surely remember for years to come. Starting from the charming wine village of Haro, you'll board your balloon and fly up into the sky as views of vineyards, mountains, and villages pass underneath you. From the basket, you'll experience the unique calmness of hot air ballooning as the entire world goes silent and the wind settles. Then, enjoy a traditional breakfast and celebrate with a glass of sparkling cava.

Your hot air balloon adventure starts early in the morning, just before sunrise. The early hours are ideal for this type of activity, as the weather is usually better, the air calmer, and the light is perfect for photos. Because the weather can impact the launch, you'll receive information two days before the flight letting you know if the activity is still a go and, if so, where to meet your guide—somewhere in Haro, a small village in La Rioja. After joining the rest of the group, your host will drive you to the launch point.

The first step is inflating the balloons, which you can learn about and watch. As the crew prepares for the flight, you'll also receive a briefing on the safety instructions. And once the balloon is ready, you'll climb aboard and start your ascent.

As you rise higher and higher, you'll experience the thrill of floating above the stunning Rioja region (Rioja is a province in Spain, whereas La Rioja is the wine region). Enjoy views of vineyards and fields stretching below you, the distant mountains, the Ebro River, and charming villages dotted throughout the landscape. You'll have plenty of time to take in panoramic vistas, snap photos, and experience the peaceful floating sensation only hot air ballooning can provide.

After about an hour of flight time, your balloon will begin to descend, and you'll touch down gently on the ground. Your host will greet you with a traditional breakfast, including fresh bread, cheese, charcuterie, and a glass of cava to celebrate your unforgettable experience. You'll then receive a flight certificate signed by your pilot and head back to Haro. If you don't have a car to get to and from Haro, we can easily coordinate private transportation for an additional cost.
