What you'll do

The day begins with a pickup at your accommodation, where you'll meet your local guide and get settled into the vintage 1920s car for today's excursion. Then, you'll head out to see some of Porto's highlights, as your guide explains their history and tidbits to give you a deeper understanding of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You may see sites like the Baroque Clérigos Church and its tall tower, the impressive Romanesque 12th-century Cathedral, and the Dom Luís I Bridge, designed by one of the partners of Gustave Eiffel. Along the way, you'll get the chance to take photos of this antique car set against the colorful backdrop of Porto's historic center.

For the second part of the trip, you can choose between visiting the fishing village of San Pedro da Afurada or the seaside suburb of Foz, known for its lighthouse and peaceful atmosphere. Both areas are outside the historic center and will allow you to soak in Porto away from the hubbub. Finally, you'll embark on a guided visit of a port distillery, where you can learn about the history of Porto's most famous export and try the fortified wine that takes its name from this historic city.

I little different than described. It was primarily a walking tour with the Vintage Car Tour at the end. That was a bit of a surprise. The tour guide was knowledgeable and if you're interested in lots of the country's history, this was a great start.

Tips for future travelers

Eat a big breakfast as the tour goes until mid-afternoon. It was a great way to learn about the city and see many sites. The tour ends at the winery in Gaia. You will not be transported back to your hotel.

I was doubtful about being a spectacle in the car, but both the drive and our guide, the latter the owner of the tour company, made the whole visit a fun time.
