Ckoi Atacama Lodge, San Pedro de Atacama

Immerse yourself in Atacameño culture at Ckoi Atacama Lodge, a traditional hotel just a 10-minute walk from the central square of Plaza de San Pedro de Atacama. Walk to the square to see the Church of San Pedro de Atacama, a landmark adobe structure, or encounter the cosmos at the Meteorite Museum, 15 minutes away on foot. El Tatio Geyser Field is about an hour and 40 minutes away or you can head to the much closer lunar landscape of Valle de la Luna, 10 minutes away. 

The hotel has about 10 welcoming rooms decorated in the local style of bright handwoven textiles and earth-tone palettes. Triples, Quadruples, and Family Rooms are ideal for larger parties; the biggest can sleep up to six on multiple beds. Bathrooms have showers or a combination of a shower and bathtub and are done in the same style as the rooms with patterned tiles and desert colors. Views look out either over the garden or the pool and while rooms don't include TVs or WiFi, you can get internet access in the lounge areas, although it isn't always the most stable.

The small pool is a refreshing place to cool off in the desert heat and take part in some good, old-fashioned llama-watching. The llamas on the property may even make up for the fact that there's no TV here, which is part of the hotel's charm of allowing you to more fully experience the sights, sounds, and sky of San Pedro de Atacama.
