Lodge Terrantai, San Pedro de Atacama

Standing under the shadow of the 18th-century San Pedro Church, Terrantai Lodge mixes Andean tradition with modern amenities to create a cozy oasis in the center of San Pedro de Atacama. This building was originally a 19th-century house and is now part of San Pedro de Atacama's historic center. The Plaza de San Pedro de Atacama is just one block away, and attractions like the Meteorite Museum and Pueblo de Artesanos are within 10 minutes on foot. Valle de la Luna is a quick 10-minute drive, and El Tatio Geyser Field is two hours away.

The 21 rooms are decorated in a traditional Andean style of bright woven textiles, adobe ceilings and walls, and wooden furniture. Small and Standard Doubles can feel tight, so consider booking a Double or Superior option for more space. Triple Rooms accommodate larger groups or families. Garden views look out over the San Pedro Church and offer a quieter stay, while pool-view rooms have easier access to the pool. Bathrooms have standing showers, as well as biodegradable products. All rooms have WiFi, but there are no televisions here, which encourages a more peaceful stay. 

The property is built around the terrace and pool, where you can cool off after a day of exploring the desert. You can also head to the spa for a massage or facial. While there's a dining area for breakfast, there's no on-site restaurant, but San Pedro de Atacama's various restaurants and cafés are all within easy reach. The overall feeling at the hotel is warmth, which is encouraged by the hospitable staff, who host daily tea and wine tastings to give guests the chance to decompress, sample local flavors, and meet others.
