La Llave de la Judería, Córdoba

Kimkim team favorite · Standard
A quaint boutique hotel with unique rooms, a picturesque courtyard, and an outdoor terrace

Overview

La Llave de la Juderia is the "key to the Jewish Quarter," a hotel made of three different historic houses with no two rooms the same. Though some might find the decor a little too old-fashioned, it definitely channels the classic past. Highlights include the multiple "corners," including two outdoor terraces and a courtyard, plus a 24-hour reception and bar hosted by kind staff.

Pros
  • Set in the Jewish Quarter, you'll be just a 3-minute walk from the Córdoba Synagogue in one direction and the Mezquita-Catedral in the other.
  • The historic hotel encompasses three different buildings and preserves the original history and architecture.
  • With just nine rooms, the hotel is quiet and quaint, and each unit has a unique decor.
  • The hotel has four rincones ("corners," as they call them), including two outdoor terraces, a picturesque courtyard, and an elegant lounge.
  • The reception is open 24/7, as is the small onsite bar, so you can order a drink and enjoy it anywhere on the property, day or night.
  • Enjoy a simple yet filling breakfast outside on one of the patios.
Cons
  • Though meant to be quaint, the bedding is quite old-fashioned with one large shared pillow and structured quilts—this is a very traditional style still found in the Spanish countryside and may not appeal to all travelers.

Authenticity

La Llave de la Juderia means "the key to the Jewish Quarter," which is fitting considering the hotel is a renovated mix of three different homes in the heart of this historic neighborhood. The property preserves the original buildings' heritage and architecture and uses classic decor to channel the past.

Location

The Jewish Quarter is an ideal neighborhood for accommodation in Córdoba, filled with numerous sites. You'll be just three minutes by foot from the Córdoba Synagogue and Mezquita-Catedral. You can also easily walk to sites like the Puente Romano, Alcázar Andalusí de Córdoba, Calleja de las Flores, and the Caballerizas Reales (Royal Stables).

Rooms & Bathrooms

Each of the nine rooms has a unique decor, and no two rooms are the same. Each contains a double bed and ensuite bathroom, plus wood floors, colorful wallpaper, and antique furnishings. The hotel aims to keep the rooms as classic as possible and even uses bedding that's reminiscent of the Spanish countryside, including one long, shared pillow and structured quilts that hug the mattress (though it could feel too old-fashioned for some).

Other Highlights

Enjoy a small breakfast buffet outside on the courtyard patio, a space where you can also sip a drink from the 24-hour reception bar. Other common areas include an elegant sitting room, an outdoor terrace, and a patio with olive trees.
